Uncorked Adventures

UnCorked Adventures is an Illinois nonprofit corporation - 501(c)(3). In 2005 Bill experienced an increasing tightness in the right side of his body, which, after 7 years of exhaustive medical reviews ultimately led to the diagnoses in 2012 of Parkinson’s disease, Bill was 43 years old. In 2017 Bill formed the Not for Profit UnCorked Adventures who’s mission is “to help people with Parkinson’s Disease make the most out of life, while we work together to find a cure.” UnCorked’s first event, which had Bill walking coast to coast across America finding one person each day with a connection to Parkinson’s. Bill successfully completed the trek on January 31st, 2018, in 67 days, averaging 40 miles per day, without a break, raising significant $ for Parkinson’s research & driving incredible awareness, reaching over 20 million people through 50+ television/media interviews. Bill has had the great honor of sharing his story and philosophy of being "OK to Fail", as a way to determine one’s real potential, with audiences around the world. He continues to share these lessons through competing in athletic challenges, speaking engagements, and he even gave a TEDx talk on the topic. Through his journey of living with Parkinson’s disease, Bill discovered the positive effects that regular exercise has had on his symptoms and overall quality of life. Since his diagnosis, Bill has attempted to inspire & help others through his own endeavors, completing a 5 year bio-marker initiative called PPMI, completing 14 marathons, the Dopey challenge in Disney, 8 triathlons, including a full Ironman, a Nordic Ski Marathon, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, several ultra-marathons and much more. Bill is also pushing the vanguard of applied medical science, leading a joint development team of scientists, industry professionals and participants with Parkinson’s to develop a unique wellness program to educate, engage and improve the quality of life for those living with the disease.
