Unlirec

UNLIREC is based in Lima, Peru. It was established in 1986 and part of the Regional Disarmament and Information Outreach Branch (RDIOB) of the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) in New York. UNLIREC is the only UN regional entity specialized in disarmament, conventional arms control, and in the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in Latin America and the Caribbean. Its mission is to support the efforts of 33 States in the region in their implementation of relevant instruments, commitments, and guidelines. In short, UNLIREC supports Latin American and Caribbean States in achieving and maintaining peace and security through disarmament.
