Cleo Pahlmeyer founded Wayfarer in 2012, carrying on her family’s legacy in wine beyond its beginnings in Napa Valley forty years ago. Since 2002, the Pahlmeyer family has been farming Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at their small estate vineyard, an extreme coastal site in the esteemed Fort Ross-Seaview AVA. Famed winemaker Helen Turley declared it would be 'The La Tache of California,’ inspiring Jayson Pahlmeyer to acquire the land and recruit David Abreu to plant the vineyard. Perched above the fog on a rugged ridgeline just four miles from the Pacific Ocean, Wayfarer Vineyard sits on Goldridge soil that was once ancient seabed. Here, generous sunshine and chilly ocean air combine to create a remarkable tension of luscious texture, structure and vibrancy in the wines – a signature that cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world.
