Even though it was created in 1988, the Company only began operating in 1990. The first official flight departs from Lisbon heading to Porto on July 7th of that same year, operated by a Fokker 100. With its internationalization in June 1992, and the acquisition of new aircraft, Portugália Airlines asserted itself on the European market as a private and innovative airline, guided by high level service standards and recognized internationally (Best Regional Airline in Europe, 2001-2006, and the Skytrax Award for Best Cabin Staff in Europe, in 2005). In 2007, it integrates the TAP Group and takes on a new business model, working under a Group logic now. Aviation English Private School (AEPS) is a Language Assessment Body and a training center specialised in foreign languages for use in the aviation industry. Founded in 2013 in Mons, Belgium by Olivier Thaon, AEPS is approved by the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority* to carry out English Language Proficiency (ELP/FCL.055) assessments for pilots. AEPS’ main mission is to contribute to flight safety by improving language skills across the aviation sector, for pilots, cabin crew, maintenance mechanics, ground staff, and others. In 2019, AEPS trained and assessed over 1300 pilots throughout the world. Through a global network of partners, AEPS covers the majority of European countries, including France, Switzerland, Portugal, Germany, as well as the French Antilles, La Réunion, New Caledonia, and many more. We are also present in some areas of Africa and Asia. AEPS offers both remote and face-to-face assessing and training solutions, especially provided through its e-learning system, Touch English and Go©.
