Founded in Carpatair is one of the oldest airlines in Romania with headquarters in Timisoara and presently a charter and wet lease airline having been operated in the aviation field for more than 25 years by 2024. First regular flights were launched from Cluj to Budapest and several destinations in northern Italy in spring Since then Carpatair operated on a regional hub & spoke system between and 2013 at Timisoara to destinations in seven countries in Eastern and Western Europe. From 2014 Carpatair switched its business model to non-scheduled services providing charter services and wet lease capacity operation on demand. Carpatair is proud of having been a trendsetter of just culture in Romania, the first airline in Romania and among the first in Eastern Europe to obtain the IOSA certification in 2005. Sibiu International Airport
Favorable positioned in the center of the country, with direct access to important roads and railways, linking Sibiu north, west, east and south, Sibiu airport is an ideal starting point for business and tourist trips. Sibiu International Airport serves, besides Sibiu, some other counties like Hunedoara, Alba, Cluj, Mures, Covasna, Harghita, Brasov, Arges and Valcea. The catchment area within 150 kilometers is about 2,6 milion inhabitants, and within 80 kilometers (60 minutes drive) is approximately one milion inhabitants. The new terminal, modern and well organized, was opened in 2007; it is structured on two levels, which allows processing of 300 passengers/hour/flow, arrivals and departures, domestic and international. Duty-paid store, located inside the international departures boarding hall, allow to the passengers an interesting selection of shopping. Tourist Information Center and Helpdesk are easily accessible in the new terminal of the airport and come to assist passengers with information about routes and area attractions. Passengers and airport visitors have various options for spending waiting time, having at hand a café, a newspaper and magazine store, a convenience store and rent-a-car offices. First aid and medical care room offers assistance for both passengers and staff. Wireless internet network comes to support the passengers to offer them a pleasant and useful waiting until boarding. In front of the passenger terminal it is a car parking for 300 cars, equipped with automatic access control system.
