Japan Commercial Arbitration Association
JCAA is an independent and private non-profit. It has a track record spanning 70 years over which it has continuously adapted its capacities to offer both domestic and international arbitrations tailored to users' specific needs. Most of the JCAA arbitration cases were of an international nature, involving one or more non-Japanese companies or citizens. JCAA's panel of arbitrators offers a highly diverse spectrum of arbitrators. The vast majority of the 400-plus panel arbitrators are not Japanese nationals and represent professionals from over 50 different jurisdictions, and include the world's most prominent international arbitrators. JCAA provides first-class services that meet global standards in international arbitration practice. One way JCAA accomplishes this is by allowing users to choose from three different sets of arbitration rules to meet their specific administration needs. UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules (2010) The UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules are well-tested and widely recognized in the arbitration community as an ideal set of rules for a flexible arbitration based on party autonomy. Commercial Arbitration Rules (2019) The Commercial Arbitration Rules not only incorporate global standards, but also provide carefully crafted provisions to prevent unnecessary procedural disputes arising out of the parties' different legal backgrounds. Interactive Arbitration Rules (2019) The Interactive Arbitration Rules offer a "civil law approach" in offering maximum predictability and efficiency by enabling the arbitral tribunal to take a more active role. JCAA provides quick and comprehensive support throughout arbitral proceedings. In particular, JCAA can make all the necessary arrangements for meetings and hearings (e.g, rooms, equipments, interpreters, court reporters) both in person and online upon request. JCAA Secretariat is equipped to communicate in a number of languages, and has established a reputation as being efficient and user-friendly.
