Veterans Of Foreign Wars - Vfw - Michigan
The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is a nonprofit veterans service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces. We trace our roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service. Many arrived home wounded or sick. There was no medical care or veterans' pension for them, and they were left to care for themselves. In their misery, some of these veterans banded together and formed organizations that would eventually band together and become known as the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. After chapters were formed in Ohio, Colorado and Pennsylvania, the movement quickly gained momentum. Today, membership stands at more than 1.5 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliary. Our voice was instrumental in establishing the Veterans Administration, development of the national cemetery system, in the fight for compensation for Vietnam vets exposed to Agent Orange and for veterans diagnosed with Gulf War Syndrome. In 2008, we won a long-fought victory with the passing of a GI Bill for the 21st Century, giving expanded educational benefits to America's active duty service members, and members of the guard and reserves, fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. We were the driving force behind the Veterans Access and Accountability Act of 2014, and continually fight for improved VA medical centers services for women veterans. We have many programs and services that work to support veterans, service members and their families, as well as communities worldwide. Please check out our latest fact sheet or spend some time browsing our site to learn why No One Does More For Veterans.

Veterans Of War
Veterans of War is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that connects teams of veterans to guided ayahuasca therapy designed to heal the scars of war. Veterans of War Fellowships: We accomplish our mission through administration of a six-month curriculum supporting our veteran teams utilizing the 3 American Psychological Association-approved methods to combat the after-effects of war: psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and education/support. The first part of our journey into healing relies on building a unit-mindset in the veterans that we serve within each fellowship cohort (affectionately called “fireteams”). We link our teams together, have bi-weekly meetings with them for two months in order to prepare and educate them on their journey-to-come using certified integration coaches. Then we help them navigate specific diet and health restrictions that may contradict the effective use of our preferred entheogen: ayahuasca. Fellowship participants then proceed to the 14 day workshop located in Iquitos, Peru. Workshops are focused on the mindful use of the ancient entheogen ayahuasca as a diagnostic tool and connector in order to help participants better understand and overcome the root causes for PTS, MST, addiction, insomnia, and/or other imbalances of the psyche. We offer four chances for each veteran participant to drink the sacred Amazonian tea in a safe, clean, and supported environment over the course of the workshop, as well as integration-coaching after each session, excursion opportunities into the jungle between sessions, group yoga, and guided meditation sessions. Upon completion of the workshop in Peru, the fellowship continues at veteran homes of record for an additional 4 months through continued bi-weekly group coaching sessions designed to aid integration of lessons learned and to ensure that adequate support structures are in place to give the best possible chance of long-term, meaningful changes that support healing.

Warrior Healing Center

Located at 1838 Paseo San Luis in Sierra Vista (WHC) is an elegant solution to a very real need. 50+ organizations and programs who provide services to veterans/families collaborate under one roof to improve the lives of veterans and their families in our community. Services provided include service dog training, art classes, fitness classes, PTSD support, PTSD Tapping therapy, Flutes for Vets Native American Flute Circles, holistitc health options, equine activities, navigation support for veteran hurdles and more! Join us for Bagels & Brew on Thursday mornings and find comfort and camaraderie in our "Green Zone". Veterans often feel like they are still taking fire years after leaving the military. That's because they are. WHC provides options as well as a structure that offers unit support and cover similar to that of the military. Come tell us your story - we've got your back! In addition to facilitating navigation to needed services for veterans, WHC strengthens the community by creating win-win solutions with organizations in the building and in our community. WHC is asking the community in Cochise County, that exists because of the military and our veterans, to give back to our veterans and their families in a new and exciting way:$22 a month, which is about the cost of a cup of coffee a week, is all we ask from our community members and businesses. Buy a cup of coffee a week for a veteran and be part of the vital support provided to our veterans at WHC. We'll be sure our clients understand who's supporting them in this community and they'll share with you their experiences at WHC when they come as patrons to your business! What's 22 a Day? That veteran suicides—a number is used in marketing but the science suggests that the actual number is much, much higher.
