Kerlin Gallery

Established in Dublin 1988, Kerlin Gallery has built an international reputation by providing sustained and meaningful representation for leading contemporary Irish and international artists. For almost three decades, the gallery’s programme has reflected significant trends in international contemporary art with significant solo shows of Liam Gillick, Willie Doherty, Siobhán Hapaska, Phil Collins, Callum Innes, Merlin James, Albert Oehlen, Sean Scully and Hiroshi Sugimoto, among others. In recent years, the gallery has introduced a new generation of artists working across diverse media, including Gerard Byrne, Isabel Nolan, Aleana Egan, Jan Pleitner, Sam Keogh and Eoin Mc Hugh. The gallery continues to publish artists’ catalogues and monographs independently and in association with public institutions. Kerlin Gallery artists that have been shortlisted for the Turner Prize include Willie Doherty (twice), Liam Gillick, Callum Innes, Stephen McKenna and Sean Scully. Artists exhibited at the Venice Biennale since 1988 include Dorothy Cross, Willie Doherty, Gerard Byrne, Siobhán Hapaska, Jaki Irvine, Merlin James, William McKeown, Isabel Nolan, Kathy Prendergast and Sean Scully. Kerlin Gallery participates in six major art fairs annually, including Art Basel, Art Basel Hong Kong, Art Basel Miami Beach and Frieze New York. The gallery continues to have a unique and pivotal position in the contemporary art scene in Ireland whilst developing and expanding its international position.

Backwater Artists Group

Founded in 1990 by graduates of the Crawford College of Art and Design, Backwater Artists Group is the largest purpose built artists studios (29 in total – 23 Painting/Mixed Media, 6 Sculpture) in the region and it houses an established artist-led studio group, now in its 25th year. Located in Cork City Centre, we share our premises with Cork Printmakers & CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery. We provide well maintained, safe, secure, accessible, heated studio space for Artists with security of tenure and 24 hour access. We cater for professional Artists from the emerging to the more established. Studios are clean, warm, well ventilated with ample natural light and cater appropriately to Artists needs. Backwater caters for forty one artists at present. Our artists work in many different disciplines including Sculpture, Painting, Photography, New Media, Installation, Performance, Print, Ceramics and Stained Glass. We are an artist-run organisation with an artist-led Board of Directors who are dedicated to improving the working conditions and support structures for visual artists and to this end we provide access to computer, framing and photography facilities, all of which are necessary to the establishment of a professional art practice. In keeping with our ethos we award two six-month Ciarán Langford Memorial Bursaries to graduates of the Crawford College annually to assist them in the transition from student to professional artist.

Emily Mccormack - Artist

Irish contemporary artist, Emily McCormack has an art studio and gallery based in Ireland’s Ancient East. She works primarily in oils and paints a variety of subjects including seascapes, landscapes, florals and cityscapes. Recently her art school, studio and gardens featured on RTE One’s Nationwide programme. Paintings from her Old Ireland Series entitled ‘Ring a Ring a Rosie’ and ‘The Famine’ were published in a book capturing aspects of Irish life and has also featured in Irelands Homes and Interiors Magazine. Her original oil paintings are available to buy from her website, by appointment from the studio or every Sunday from 112-113 Merrion Square’s Open-Air Art Gallery, Dublin,(weather permitting). She also offers a wide range of oil painting and drawing workshops from her studio and each month offers tips and free oil painting advice in her monthly oil painting blogs. Tory Irvine is a professional abstract artist based in the beautiful West of Ireland. Originally from Belfast, she studied fashion design in NCAD and worked across many design disciplines, including fashion, textile print design and interiors for many years. Her textile prints were hand drawn and hand-painted and her love for paint was reestablished during this time in her career. Now she paints daily, is drawn to the freedom of the medium and the opportunity it provides to feel truly connected to herself. She references her own experience of her life in the West and describes emotions, memories and dreams in her own abstract language.'I want to make work that can't be walked past, something that captivates and mesmerizes.' Atelier Now

Atelier Now is a studio and gallery space located in the heart of Dublin city, that primarily acts as a working space for internationally recognised artist Maser to create his original works. The space has been designed to be transitional and multi functional, and will also operate as an incubator for upcoming Irish artists to hone their craft. Maser is a dedicated mentor to many of Ireland’s emerging talent, and is already filling the Atelier’s events calendar with shows and exhibitions to promote their work. The studio/gallery is open plan and visible from Charlemont Street, where passersby might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Maser creating one of his trademark bold canvases or the beginnings of a large scale installation.

Carla qualified from the College of Marketing & Design in Dublin, Ireland. She specialised as a children's illustrator. Creating art for kids is what she loves to do. Solomon Fine Art, established in 1981, is recognised as one of Ireland's leading contemporary art galleries and has built its outstanding reputation representing both Irish and international artists working in both figurative and abstract styles. Solomon Fine Art is particularly well known for specialising in bronze sculpture. Internationally the Solomon has participated in numerous art fairs in London and the USA and in 2004 the gallery brought a major exhibition of contemporary Irish Art to Cape Town in South Africa. In recent years, Solomon Fine Art has undertaken a number of significant projects that include mounting major off-site outdoor exhibitions in the Iveagh Gardens in Dublin and the Village in Lyons in Kildare. I am an Irish landscape and seascape artist based in Dublin. From the time I was a child, I have always wanted to be an artist…that was the dream … but it’s taken me a lifetime to get to where I am now, working fulltime as an artist and owning my own art business. Leaving school, I choose a career in primary teaching and spent 35 years working in the field of special education teaching all ages from pre-schoolers to post primary and adults and even volunteering as teacher in Ethiopia. It was very rewarding and fulfilling. Over the years I did a lot of short art courses as a hobby. Being creative was something I did on holidays but never consistently or wholeheartedly. I worked in a variety of media (silk painting, watercolour, oil, pottery, creative textiles). All of this gave me a good foundation and understanding of how different media respond. However Art was never centre stage. I always choose practical considerations over following my heart. I often wondered what would happen if I really immersed myself in being creative… Well I decided to find out and took early retirement. The last few years have been a rollercoaster adventure and I have loved every minute! I have set up my own studio at home and have had numerous solo and group exhibitions, done some business and marketing courses. It has been a huge learning opportunity, at times challenging but always exciting. My art is inspired by the beauty of the wild, remote landscapes and the rugged coastlines of Ireland. As a keen hillwalker, beach stroller and occasional sailor I am in awe of this landscape and I try to express visually the feelings, emotions and memories it evokes in me. I strive to capture in paint the constantly changing light and the kaleidoscope of dramatic clouds. Crashing waves, diving seagulls, mountain streams, wild flower meadows and swaying grasses all intrigue me. Colour and how it can influence our mood fascinates me. I

Who We Are What we do: Art in Mind is an artist led non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting wellbeing and mental health through creative practice. We provide a safe, inclusive environment where artistic endeavours are nurtured and encouraged. Engaging people with no previous experience to create art through artist led hands-on workshops and talks. Our gallery space is host to an ongoing programme of exhibitions featuring a mix of well-established artists in addition to nurturing new and up and coming talent. We promote monthly artist led public events bringing the conversation surrounding mental health issues to the fore and engage the wider society. Art in Mind provides multidisciplinary artists the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in arts and the necessary business skills to build a career as an artist. Objectives: Build a collaborative community of artists. Facilitate an engagement between artists and community groups. Continue to develop more spaces to facilitate artists of all disciplines. Herstory

Founded in 2016, the Herstory movement tells the stories of modern, historic and mythic women. Our mission is to give the public authentic female role models and a game-changing education programme, inspiring countries around the world to start their own Herstory movements. Since 2017 the annual Herstory Light Show lights up iconic landmarks and sacred sites in honour of women to mark Brigid’s Day. In 2018, Herstory initiated and co-produced Blazing a Trail for the Department of Foreign Affairs – it is the first women’s exhibition to tour the Irish Embassy network worldwide. In 2020, Herstory partnered with RTÉ, Underground Films, EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum and the BAI for Herstory on RTÉ - the first comprehensive women’s storytelling platform on RTÉ - featuring a major documentary TV series, animation series, podcasts, school workshops and microsite. In 2021 we successfully spearheaded the campaign to make Brigid’s Day Ireland’s new public holiday.
