Artwin Gallery

This Moscow-based gallery was founded in June 2012 by sisters Mariana Guber-Gogova and Madina Gogova. Along with projects at it’s own space, Artwin Gallery organizes exhibitions in museum venues, actively supports the artists on its roster, and participates in contemporary art fairs. The gallery’s main objectives are to create a platform for dialogue between artists of different countries and generations, and to promote emerging Russian art both at home and abroad. Artwin Gallery’s focus on Russian artists, its bold approach to curating and exhibition-making, and its in-depth understanding of the art market in Russia and CIS countries, allows the gallery to create extraordinary projects across a wide range of styles and genres of contemporary art. Artwin Gallery has participated in multiple international exhibitions and biennales, including the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, Moscow International Biennale for Young Art, Cosmoscow, Art Dubai, The Armory Show, just to name a few. The gallery also helps foster the growth of contemporary art through a series of lectures and round table discussions featuring art world professionals, as well as its contributions to other educational initiatives. Artwin Gallery currently works with artists Said Atabekov, Polina Kanis, RADYA, Alexey Korsi, Olya Kroytor, Almagul Menlibaeva, Gulnur Mukazhanova, Dima Rebus, Evgeny Antufiev, Taus Makhacheva, Anna Titova and Ustina Yakovleva.

Russian Abstract Art Foundation

The Foundation's mission is to build up proper scientific and historical understanding of Russian abstract art in the global context. Focusing on the artist's studio "New Reality", the Foundation puts the main task to identify and demonstrate the place of this phenomenon, as well as Russian abstraction as a whole in the history of art. Intellectual and artistic heritage of the "New Reality" is not only an unique material for contemporary artists elaborating innovative ideas in the arts, but also helped the Foundation to create an educational program aimed at developing creative thinking for people not engaged in art. The Foundation plans to implement the program in the Russian education system. Another goal of the Foundation is to support and promote Russian contemporary artists involved in abstract and innovative art all over the world. Conducting workshops for young artists based on “New Reality” method, the Foundation envisages holding in near future exhibition projects for emerging artists. For these ends the Foundation manages education activities, collaborating with Russian and foreign public and scientific organizations, public and private museums. The Foundation also organizes conferences, roundtables on issues related both to art and to education and training highly qualified personnel.

Marie De La Ville Baugé Artiste

Marie de La Ville Baugé, is a nomadic documentary artist. Originally from France where whe grew up surrounded by artists, she worked in Cambodia, Sudan and Russia. ‘’For the past 12 years in Russia, I have been fully engaged in observing in Moscow, Russian regions and neighboring countries, the stigmata of the fall of Soviet Union, the print of nowadays politics, the rise of a post-modernist Russia and the impact of Global Warming all over the country. Tomorrow, is a time that has still not arrived, but will definitely come. But I notice, that every day, the frontier between yesterday’s world, and tomorrow’s is fluctuating, moving forward and sometimes backwards. As a photographer, I explore the border between ‘’extreme unflinching realism’’ and write my own fiction by adding layers of drawings, I sew stories and memories, I paint thoughts. I am interested in all urban environments, its ascetic, the international character of its high-rise buildings, his yet depressing form of alienation. But it is so common to everyone, that, sometimes, I make color appear. I pay attention to all the architectural elements including abandoned or working factories, power stations, power line towers. I like to study ruins, contemporary ones, as an anthropologist of modern times would do with neglected civilizations destroyed by Utopia’s legacy and thwarted promises. Although my approach is not political but purely artistic, I am also interested by the topic of open and closed world and the bordering territories in between the restricted territories and the liberated one.’’
