Martumili Artists
Martumili Artists was established by Martu people living in the communities of Parnpajinya (Newman), Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu, Kunawarritji, Irrungadji and Warralong, and it draws on strong influences of aboriginal art history. The artists and their families are the traditional custodians of vast stretches of the Great Sandy, Little Sandy and Gibson Deserts as well as Karlamilyi (Ruddal River National Park). Martumili Artists are based in the East Pilbara Arts Centre in Newman, with artists working in the 6 other remote East Pilbara communities. Martumili Artists is a place of autonomy for Martu artists; it is a pukurlpa (happy) and safe place where everyone is welcome. Martu artists are involved in every aspect of the Art Centre, and it is a place where art-making is also the practice of place-making. Bright, bold and expressive art encapsulates the contemporary aesthetic and cultural authenticity of Martumili artists- whose stories and knowledge of Country and culture directly inform their practice. Martumili Governance Martumili Artists is a not for profit, Martu driven art centre that operates as an activity of the Shire of East Pilbara. Martumili has worked with Martu artists to establish a Martu artist advisory group- Wangka Lampa Kujungka. Wangka Lampa Kujungka (WLK) means ‘One Mob One Voice’. It is ‘the Martu Voice’- the group of Martu artists chosen to be voice of Martu artists to the Shire and to the staff of Martumili about how Martumili Artists should operate as a community project for Martu.

Desart provides a conduit for broad engagement with remote Art Centres and has developed a national reputation for being a strong advocate to Governments and the broader arts industry, highlighting the unique position Aboriginal Art Centres hold in the national arts and cultural landscape, their successes, needs and challenges. Sculpture By The Sea
Staged on the spectacular Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk, Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi is one of Sydney’s most popular events, with visitors viewing over 100 sculptures by artists from around the world. Held since 1997, this free to the public exhibition captures the imagination of Sydney and its visitors for three weeks each spring and is the largest annual sculpture exhibition in the world. The exhibition generates an almost unprecedented level of goodwill among the public as they enjoy one of the most unique events in the world. The popularity of the Bondi exhibition led to the creation of Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe in Perth on Australia’s Indian Ocean coast in March each year. Staged since 2005 the Cottesloe exhibition features over 70 sculptures and is enjoyed by visitors, making the exhibition as much a part of Perth as the Bondi show is in Sydney.

Jason Douglas and Trevor Eastwood met 13 years ago while being Firefighters in Western Sydney. Both Jason and Trevor have a strong connection to their Aboriginal culture and wish to share it further with the wider community. What Do We Do? Dalmarri is an Indigenous owned company specialising in educating, teaching and engaging to the oldest civilisation on earth, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and its culture. Our Team at Dalmarri have created programs/talks/workshops suited to any organisation and can tailor specific courses to their own individual needs. We are also Indigenous artists and paint murals, walls, canvas, tools, memorabilia, run art classes and do designs for all projects any organisation has in mind. Earth Five Leatherworks
It was in Afghanistan in early 1969 where Peter began making small goat hide travel bags and passport pouches for other travellers passing through Afghanistan. That kind of leatherwork wasn't available in Afghanistan in those days, just heavy duty saddlery. That where it all began; at the Sha Foladi Hotel in Kabul. It was the dawn of the new era. Arriving back in Melbourne he was briefly the bagmaker in Stuff Leathery in Swanston Street, until he met another leatherworker, and late in 69 they opened EARTH Leatherworks in Glenferrie. Then it was to London where EARTH 2 Leatherworks was born, creating leathergoods for the West End and Chelsea Boutiques. Leaving EARTH 2 with the co-worker he had trained, Peter took off to New York where he lived and worked on a barge in the Hudson River, eventually opening yet another small shop, EARTH 3 in Richmond, Staten Island, NYC. With some customers in Greenwich Village that workshop too, was left with the co-worker. Both co-workers he had taught the trade and they carried on successfully for some years. EARTH 4 was a moveable feast. Roaming the USA with tools in one bag and travel kit in the other and eventually arriving back in Melbourne to open yet another leather shop, Earthgate. Then came EARTH FIVE. With the partnership of Peter and Gary revived and back in business EARTH FIVE Leatherworks made just about anything to order as well as sandals, belts and bags to many outlets around Australia and quite a few items for props for TV and movies. In 2015 Now it’s the full circle. Earth Five in 2015, evolving from the ubiquitous EARTH locations, not as the Phoenix arising from the ashes but more as going back to one's roots. EARTH FIVE Leatherworks is back in business. The more things change, the more they stay the same - or not.
