Odysseus Space
Odysseus Space's vision is to provide light-speed connectivity everywhere in the Solar system. Our company aims to enable fast and secure communications between all human assets in space and on Earth. In 2019, Odysseus Space emerged in Luxembourg, propelled by the win of the ESA Space Resources Award. The seeds of our vision sprouted as we secured the inaugural ESA contract, embarking on the odyssey of Cyclops™ development, a space-to-ground Laser Communication as a Service (LCaaS™) solution for high data volume transfer. As the constellations aligned, we consolidated our business plan and design for Cyclops™ with customers, setting the stage for a revolutionary leap in space data communication. In 2021, a second ESA contract was signed for the development of Cyclops™. Simultaneously, an agreement unfolded to integrate Cyclops™ Optical Ground Stations into a prominent Ground Stations Network, solidifying our presence in the interconnected cosmos. Since then, Odysseus has continued to make significant strides. In 2024, Odysseus signed a contract with its first customer to host the first in-orbit demonstration of Cyclops™-DTE satellite laser terminal in early 2026 and an agreement to deploy Odysseus’ first commercial Optical Ground Station for LEO-to-Ground Laser Communication. Odysseus Space remains dedicated to transforming space laser communication and creating a brighter future for all. In 2024, the European Defence Agency selected Odysseus to support Project OPTIMAS in the development of a space-to-drone optical communication system and Project AVALON with a scalable wireless system that supports high-speed underwater communication- Both projects to start in Q1 2025 under the European Defence Fund (EDF) 2023 Calls for Proposals.
