Bank of Thai people under Chakri Kings Government Savings Bank was established by King Vajiravudh (King Rama VI) who realized the asset storage secured against thief is very important. His Majesty the King defined the act on the establishment of Savings Office on April 1, 1913. His Majesty the King required Saving Office to be a safe place for asset storage and instilled people to know how to save money properly. Savings Office insisted this role of all time by Royal Grace of all Chakri Kings. One of historical pages was in 1946 King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX) graciously raised Savings Office as Government Savings Bank and defined Government Savings Bank Act to support the progress of Savings Office business and operated since April 1, 1947. In 1966, His Majesty the King was the chairman of opening ceremony of the King Rama VI’s Statue and the office building at GSB Head Office, Phaholyothin Road. This was the most grateful for Majesty's boundless and gracious kindness and all GSB executives and officers. Export-Import Bank Of Thailand

Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand) is a state-owned financial institution under the Ministry of Finance's supervision. It was established with an initial capital of 2.5 billion baht by the Export-Import Bank of Thailand Act B.E. 2536 (1993), which took effect on September 7, 1993. Following rapid business expansion, the Bank's capital was increased with the Ministry of Finance's additional contribution of 2.5 billion baht and 1.5 billion baht in April and July 1998, respectively. Later in December 2008, the Ministry of Finance injected another 1.3 billion baht in capital to enhance the Bank’s capability to fulfill its mission as a state-run specialized financial institution with a mandate to promote and support Thai exports, imports, and investments, both domestic and overseas. In September 2009, the Ministry of Finance increased the Bank’s capital by another 5 billion baht. The fund was earmarked for export promotion through export credit insurance under the Strong Thailand Scheme 2012. The service helps safeguard exporters against non-payment risk by overseas buyers, thereby boosting exporters’ confidence in their business expansion in the main or emerging markets, particularly in the midst of the 2009 economic turbulence when such risk heightened substantially. Under the Export-Import Bank of Thailand Act, EXIM Thailand is empowered to engage in a broad range of business undertakings. EXIM Thailand can offer short-term as well as long-term credits, either in domestic or overseas markets, in baht or any foreign currency denominations. In mobilizing funds, the Bank can borrow from local or overseas financial institutions, as well as issue short-term or long-term financial instruments for sale to financial institutions and the general public, both domestically and internationally. Essentially, EXIM Thailand can engage in any financial activities customary to commercial bank practices, except for accepting deposit from the general public.

Islamic Bank Of Thailand

The Islamic Bank of Thailand was set up by the Islamic Bank of Thailand Act B.E. 2545 (2002), as a state enterprise under the Ministry of Finance, administered by a board of governors, with an advisory council on Islamic banking. The bank operates in accordance with the rules of Sharia, or the Islamic rules on transactions. The basic principle of Islamic banking is the sharing of profit and loss and the prohibition of the payment of fees for the renting of money, or businesses related to profiteering, monopolizing, or vices. In an Islamic hire-purchase transaction, instead of loaning the buyer money to purchase the item, the bank buys the item from the seller, and resells it to the buyer at a profit, while allowing the buyer to pay the bank in installments, while asking for strict collateral. The bank customer thus pays a monthly fixed amount, making his financial planning easier. There are presently 100 branches of the Islamic Bank of Thailand, scattered in all regions of the country. The Islamic Bank of Thailand (IBT) was established under a special act by the country’s parliament in 2002, under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance. The objective was to provide Islamic banking services to all customers, irrespective of their religion.
