When the ground squirts out its blood and pours it in the vessels of desire, and then charms the spirits yearning to get unshackled from the limited and flows beyond the existing present whilst hovering with the minds that were muddied with the clay of bitterness, and transcends them to the kingdoms of serenity and the paradise of oblivion; we then exist in the majestic presence of wine. When the soil produces its best and sweats with its enchanted dew while sedately abiding in the vats, residing with the awe of the Sultans, the minds dispute its status and religions ban or bless its enjoyment, then you are in the majestic presence of wine. When you choose to become a manufacturer or a skilled worker, it means that God has granted you the gift of innovation, but when you produce wine that you extract from the branches of the vines, the magic of the nations and the paradox of the minds, and you distil it, then God has bestowed on you a selective blessing of creation and has made you a partner in creating one of the fascinations of the obscure existence. Since yearning is the brook of the minds which flows to the ocean of innovation and achievement, and since the generosity of heaven corresponded with this yearning in time and location, there was the birth of Vigna Verde; a creation of the goddess of wine in the new era, and a neighbor to Bacchus Temple (Baalbak Fortress); god of wine in the old era. Vigna Verde (s.a.r.l.) is a family company with limited liabilities owned and equally shared by five brothers of the Geagea family. It was established in 2009, and it is the owner of the winery in Barka, known as Chateau BARKA. It was thus called after the country the owners come from; Barka, a mountain village located in northern Bekaa, 1450m above sea level. Domaine Des Tourelles

Domaine des Tourelles was founded in Chtaura in 1868 by Francois-Eugène Brun, a French engineer, working on the Beirut to Damascus railroad. But soon after – being a Frenchman – he spotted the potential of the mysterious and fertile Bekaa Valley and by the end of the century his wines had been shown at the most prestigious fairs in Europe. Monsieur Brun may not have known it, but in establishing his winery, he had rekindled the torch of Lebanese winemaking, one that had been lit years earlier and which in 1,700 B.C. gave the gift of wine to the then known world, including Rome, Greece and Carthage. Nearly a century later, Francois-Eugène’s grandson, Pierre Brun, made the winery famous during Lebanon’s 60s heyday, not least because of his renowned Arak Brun and a rosé wine that captured the spirit of the Levant. Pierre Brun died in but his legacy, and that of his grandfather, is in the hands of a new generation of owners who have made Domaine des Tourelles one the most dynamic and exciting producers in the Eastern Mediterranean, making seven wines that are sold in 17 countries. Arak Brun is still made, as are a host of liqueurs and old brandies to complement one of the most exciting portfolios in the region. Chateau Qanafar

Chateau Qanafar was established in 2005 in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley with a goal to produce one of Lebanon's highest quality wines. Great wine cannot be made without great grapes. Grapes grown in the Bekaa Valley, which in the first century BC was one of the most important sources of grain for the Roman provinces of the Levant, are of particularly high quality due to its Mediterranean climate exhibiting wet winters (610 mm of average annual rainfall) and warm, dry summers. This weather pattern promotes vine growth without detrimental vigor and disease while encouraging the ripening of berries to full maturity. Our grapes are grown at 1200m on gently sloping hilltop vineyards, with soil humidity and fertility at just the right levels to promote the growth of deep roots and ultimately, delivery of nutrients at the right amounts for berries of exceptional color and flavor. This combination of great fruit and a winemaking process that accentuates its varietal characteristics, complex flavor and aroma without exaggerated interference yields the unique wines of Chateau Qanafar.
