Genetic Analysis As
Genetic Analysis AS (GA) is positioned to become a world leader within the field of molecular in-vitro diagnostics of diseases related to gut imbalances. Based on the patented DNA-based GA-map® platform technology, profiles of patient’s gut microbiota is quickly generated and can be related to various health conditions. Our first product, the GA-map® Dysbiosis Test helps Gastroenterologists to measure and monitor gut microbiota status in patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). This is the first dysbiosis test which is commercially available, standardised, CE-marked and clinically validated (50 clinical trials + 30 publications). Further clinical applications for the tests are in areas such as diagnosis, disease severity course, treatment prediction and monitoring within both IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) where the need of clinical data and validation is required. GA is thus very active in these fields. Other areas of interest are metabolic disease including diabetes type 2.

Alginor ASA was established 24th of March 2014 in Haugesund, Norway to develop a technology for total utilisation of seaweeds to be integrated in a multifunctional biorefinery for seaweeds. Seaweeds are among the world’s largest untapped resources. We are focusing on the large brown kelp Laminaria hyperborea and along the Norwegian coast alone there is a rough estimate of 60 million tonnes of standing biomass. To secure a sustainable and efficient utilisation of this important stock it is necessary to exploit the entire biomass. We plan to establish the first biorefinery in Norway that focuses on total utilisation of seaweeds and extracting pure and formula-specific products for application areas such as food, feed, pharma, agri, chemicals and materials.

Our mission is to produce, efficiently and animal friendly, large volumes of chicken antibodies (IgY), primarily for use in the diagnostic industry. We have more than 20 years experience in production and purification of high quality IgY. Our antibodies are used in several high quality diagnostic products manufactured by leading international diagnostic companies. CHICKEN ANTIBODIES (IgY) IgY is isolated from the egg yolk of eggs from chickens that are immunized with your antigen of choice. Immunization takes 4 weeks, after which eggs are collected daily and individually marked with full traceability. Norway is regarded one of the safest countries in terms of animal health and infectious diseases. In Norway, commercial chickens receive only a single vaccine against animal diseases (compared to 20 vaccines in the Netherlands). Our antibody production facilities are approved and controlled by the Norwegian Governmental Board for Animal Experiments and the Animal Health Department. WHY USE IgY? Chickens are genetically highly different from humans and other mammals. Due to large genetic difference, chickens have a stronger immunologic response to mammalian antigens than i.e. mice, rabbits or sheep. Furthermore, rheumatoid factors of mammalian sera often react with mammalian antibodies causing false positive results when mammalian antibodies are used. Rheumatoid factors do not react with chicken antibodies. In terms of animal welfare, the IgY production process does not involve any blood sampling or sacrificing of animals. An egg-laying chicken lays app 5-6 eggs per week, yielding an antibody amount that would otherwise demand large quantities of blood from several animals, or a huge in vitro production capacity to obtain. One single egg per day results in up to 25 times more antibodies than collectable from one rabbit!
