Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) affect more than 152 million patients yearly and are, therefore, one of the most common types of diseases. Diagnostics of UTIs require time-consuming sample logistics and incubation by specialists in laboratories with high personnel costs (duration: 2-5 working days). As an initial treatment, patients are prescribed a broad-spectrum antibiotic until a more accurate infection assessment is available, leading to the development of multi-resistant germs. BugSense is a paper-based, patient-oriented solution combining cultivation and antibiotic resistance testing in one step, reducing testing time, costs, logistical effort, and especially unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions. The test should provide a user-friendly diagnostic and personalized treatment for anyone.

By this strategy, the patient’s immune system is directed to recognize the full, individual repertoire of leukemic antigens—without the need to pre-select molecular targets. Compared to approaches like CAR-T, our strategy offers decisive advantages- No complex or costly ex vivo engineering - No reliance on specialized GMP facilities - Potential for a simple, self-administered drug to sustain remission or block disease progression Beyond AML, this therapy also shows promise for myelodysplastic syndrome and other cancers, with the potential to normalize thrombocyte and neutrophil counts.
