В состав материалов серии ХС входит ортофосфорная кислота, выполняющая функцию отвердителя, а в грунтовке дополнительно как преобразователь ржавчины. Это позволяет при незначительных налетах ржавчины грунтовку накладывать без предварительной подготовки поверхности (за исключением обязательного обезжиривания).
