Kegiatan pertambangan MIFA sudah mendapatkan Izin Usaha Pertambangan Operasi Produksi (IUP-OP) berdasarkan keputusan Bupati Aceh Barat No. 117.b tahun 2011 Tentang Penyesuaian Izin Usaha (IUP) Operasi Produksi PT Mifa Bersaudara dengan luas wilayah konsesi sekitar 3.134 hektar (ha) dan telah memiliki Sertifikat Clean and Clear (CnC) No. 234/Bb/03/2014. Aktivitas penambangan MIFA dilakukan secara mandiri yang mencakup seluruh kegiatan dari hulu sampai ke hilir, yakni mulai dari area tambang hingga ke pelabuhan khusus. Untuk mendukung kegiatan operasional penambangan sehari-hari, MIFA telah membangun fasilitas dan infrastruktur, seperti fasilitas operasional tambang, pemecah batu bara (coal crushing plant), jalan angkut khusus (hauling road) batu bara, hingga membangun sistem pemuatan batu bara curah ke kapal tongkang menuju Terminal Khusus Batu Bara PT Mifa Bersaudara yang berada di Pesisir Pantai Peunaga Cut Ujong, Kabupaten Aceh Barat.
