Turkana Eco-Green Organization (TEGO), is a Community Based Organization founded in 2017 and officially registered in 2023, in Turkana County, Kenya, with the mission to rally and lead the Green Transformation campaign in the Arid and Semi Arid Lands (ASALs), so as to participate in providing solutions to mitigate climate change, environmental conservation and food security. The CBO was founded by local youth who have the passion and zeal to change the narrative of the society that is largely known for its social, economic and environmental problems such as prolonged droughts, malnutrition (hunger), lack of clean drinking water, insecurity, poor health care services as well as poor education infrastructures. With the current climate change status, the ASALs will be even harder to sustain with already less pasture and water for the occupants and their livestock, pausing a threat to sustainability of both (human and animals) lives and environment in general. It is with this humanitarian and environmental conservation plan that TEGO is founded and to specifically address four thematic pillars namely; 1. Environmental Conservation and Management; 2. Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation; 3. Food Security and Livelihoods 4. Health and Sanitation.
