IT-auditors hebben de erkende universitaire opleiding tot IT-auditor voltooid en kunnen tenminste vijf jaar relevante praktijkervaring aantonen. Pas dan kunnen ze worden ingeschreven als Register EDP-auditor. Met de inschrijving in het register verbindt een RE zich aan de gedrags- en beroepsregels en is tevens onderworpen aan de tuchtrechtspraak van NOREA. RE’s hebben actuele kennis van privacy, informatietechnologie, bestuurlijke informatievoorziening, organisatiekunde en methoden en technieken van onderzoek. Bovendien hebben zij kennis en ervaring met de kosten van IT en toepassingsgebieden rondom informatiebeveiliging. Een RE geeft onpartijdige adviezen en oordelen over kwaliteitsaspecten van IT. De toegevoegde waarde van de RE wordt erkend door toezichthouders als de Nederlandsche Bank, de Autoriteit Financiële Markten, de Autoriteit Consument & Markt en de Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens en het UWV. De Suwinet audit moet door een RE worden uitgevoerd en afgetekend. De resultaten van de controle en alle gegevens die worden ingezien en/of besproken, vallen onder de geheimhoudingsplicht van ons bureau, zoals vastgelegd in onze algemene voorwaarden voor het uitvoeren van audits.
