Soil Conservation Council Of Canada
The Soil Conservation Council of Canada has a rich history as the face and voice of soil conservation in Canada. The was founded in 1987, by a group of individuals under the leadership of Senator Herb Sparrow to advocate for the importance of soil conservation on a national scale. The delivered several national and regional programs with government support, and in 2014, successfully co-hosted the 6th World Congress on Conservation Agriculture. Since then, has hosted a series of Summits on Canadian Soil Health to examine key and emerging issues affecting soil health. The is the only national organization to concentrate on the issues of soil health and soil conservation within a broadly based landscape context. It works to build a greater understanding of the importance of soil as an essential resource to society by facilitating the exchange of information with all stakeholders. Healthy soils are the foundation of sustainable food production, enhanced biodiversity and cleaner air and water for present and future generations.

The Kelp Rescue Initiative
Kelp forests are vanishing all around the world. Fast. We're developing science-backed solutions to restore and strengthen them. Many of the world's kelp forests are declining. Over the last seven years, up to 90% of kelp has disappeared in some areas off North America's west coast. Increasing water temperatures are killing kelp forests at the surface. And the mass die of sea stars means urchins are killing them from below. The result is a stressed ecosystem that is severely out of balance. Just like jungles, healthy kelp forests are rich in life. They provide food and shelter for dozens of species, creating diverse and vibrant marine ecosystems. Kelp forests regulate water quality and reduce acidity in the ocean. They can also protect our coastlines from storms and erosion. Kelp forests also absorb CO2. Lots of it. Scientists believe it could become a powerful tool in the fight against climate change. Successful kelp restoration starts with asking the right questions, building strong partnerships, and creating scalable solutions.

Atlantic Healthy Oceans Initiative
AHOI was established in 2019 to conduct marine and social science research that would inform our education and outreach programs to better look after the ocean and coastal communities of western, NL Canada together for generations to come. To date, we run a Circular Economy and Plastic Waste Reduction Program as well as a Marine Conservation Program. Our Circular Economy Program focuses on helping our regional business operators transition towards more circular practices and away from the linear model to become truly sustainable. Our Marine Conservation Programs focus on using leading technology to better understand the health of eelgrass beds, impacts from aquatic invasive species, anthropogenic impacts to aquatic species at risk and overall ocean health that can support coastal communities and a thriving marine environment for decades to come.

North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority
About The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) is a community-based, environmental organization in Ontario’s near north, dedicated to conserving, restoring, developing and managing renewable natural resources on a watershed basis. NBMCA is a not-for-profit, charitable organization formed in 1972. It is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by its member municipalities. NBMCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in Ontario responsible for watershed management on behalf of of municipalities, stakeholders, and the province. NBMCA's responsibilities are defined through the Conservation Authorities Act, the Clean Water Act, the Ontario Building Code and other legislation to meet watershed management obligations. Those responsibilities include flood protection and warning, water quality monitoring, on-site sewage system permitting, drinking water source protection, planning and development permitting, conservation area and trails, as well as outreach and special events. NBMCA’s area of jurisdiction under the Conservation Authorities Act is over 2,900 square kilometers, based on identified watersheds within the Lake Nipissing and the Ottawa River Basins. Highlights of the NBMCA's jurisdictional area include Lake Nipissing, Trout Lake, Wasi Lake, the Mattawa River, the North Bay Escarpment and parts of Algonquin Park. The On-site Sewage System permitting program is delivered in Nipissing and Parry Sound Districts. Drinking Water Source Protection Plan is in place for municipal drinking water systems in Callander, Mattawa, North Bay, Powassan and South River. NBMCA's 15 Conservation Areas and Trails protect forests, wetlands, and natural hazards; provide havens for biodiversity; and offer urban transportation routes as well as a diverse variety of hiking, biking and snowshoeing trails for public appreciation, health and wellness.

The FRB collaborates with local partners, including businesses—both large and small—owning land within the watershed, as well as citizens, schools, students, and municipalities. Margaree Salmon Association
The Margaree Salmon Association, established in 1982, is a volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation, protection, enhancement and habitat of Atlantic salmon and trout. Since its founding, the Margaree Salmon Association has established itself as the voice for the salmon resource and salmon conservation on the Margaree River, including being a lobbying force on behalf of the Margaree Fish Hatchery. An affiliate of the Atlantic Salmon Federation,(ASF), and the Nova Scotia Salmon Association,(NSSA), the MSA has been an active participant in the Regional Fisheries Advisory Committee,(RFAC), the Zonal Management Advisory Committee,(ZEMAC) and the Collaborative Fishing Initiative,(CSI Cape Breton), which is chaired/managed by Unama’ki Institute of Natural Resources. The association was also involved in the nomination and eventual designation of the Margaree River-Lake Ainslie System as a Canadian Heritage River. Through armour rock bank stabilization programs and the construction of flow diverters and tree revetments, much of the Association’s efforts have centered on habitat restoration and repair. More recently, the association has put more focus on the tributaries feeding the main river which are, in reality, the river’s “hatcheries”. This work has been carried out in partnership with a variety of government agencies as well as the NS Adopt-A-Stream Program, administered by NSSA. Due to the support of our membership, the river and its salmon resource have taken on a spiritual life of their own. Both yearly and occasional visitors, having come under the spell of the river, have felt compelled to do what they can to preserve the river and its salmon by whatever means they are able, whether physically or financially.
