The Caribbean Biological Corridor Initiative Cbc
The Caribbean Biological Corridor Initiative (CBC) is a regional cooperation platform comprised of the Ministries of Environment of Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica. We seek to build a strong and collectively sustained regional institutional approach to the conservation and management of shared terrestrial and marine biodiversity of regional importance in the Caribbean. Since our creation on July 10, 2007, we have had the support of the United Nations Environment Program, funding from the European Union, among others, and the participation of national and international NGOs and institutions. We implement projects directly and through partners that are part of our governance mechanism. Our mission is to achieve the effective conservation of marine and terrestrial biodiversity of regional importance and the maintenance of ecological connectivity in key sites of the insular Caribbean, considering the challenges of a changing climate, the development needs of communities, and ensuring the coordination, integration and cooperation of all relevant stakeholders. To this end, we have the 2030 Strategic Plan as a roadmap with actions that will enable the achievement of objectives in the member countries.

Red Arrecifal Dominicana
We are an inter-institutional alliance made up of organizations and individuals involved in the conservation and management of coral reefs and their associated species at both national and local scales. Established in 2016 under the leadership of Fundación Propagas, alongside its founding members—The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Reef Check Dominican Republic, Fundación Grupo Puntacana, and the Dominican Foundation for Marine Studies (FUNDEMAR)—who, after being made aware of the findings presented in the first annual report on the monitoring program “The State of the Coral Reefs of the Dominican Republic” conducted in 2015, decided to join forces to define management actions in the search for effective solutions to improve the health and resilience of these critically important and sensitive tropical ecosystems.
