Mind In Motion

Mind in Motion is a project that raises mental health awareness in Kenya. Currently, Kenya is suffering from a ‘mental health crisis’ (Mental Health Task Force – Ministry of Health, Kenya) and victims often self-isolate due to stigma, traditional misconceptions and shame. We are a team of choreographers and therapists and use the power of DANCE to bring change. We train and support local dancers to express their personal experiences and struggles in their own dance-choreography that is then performed for their communities of origin. With every performance, we show that expression is possible, it is healing and it is strong. We break the ice and start the conversation with our visitors. We fight the stigma that prevents people from reaching out for support. After a very succesful pilot, we are proud to announce local county governments, hospital groups and therapists have joined forces with us to create a movement that is here to bring permanent change to how Kenya views mental health.
