We walk the extra mile, to push the boundaries of both design and sustainability. Today we collaborate with skilled artisans from India, and through generations of knowledge, these artisans have acquired unique methods of hand weaving rugs from the sustainable materials we use. Encourage - A Slow Fashion Brand
I am Marianne "Mau" Simmelkiær, a Danish designer based in the Greater Copenhagen Area of Denmark. I have been part of the fashion industry for 25 years, for good and for bad. As a designer, I have seen first-hand how the diversity of fashion expressions has skyrocketed over the years, only to lower the overall quality of the fashion industry, put pressure on the production facilities, confuse the end user and explosively increase the amount of waste we leave in landfills. As one who has contributed to this massive style-inferno in my early days as a designer, I now feel obligated to suggest an alternative. An alternative to "fast forward fashion". The alternative I offer is the EnCourage Philosophy, revolving around the EnCourage Suit supported by a small range of longlasting EnCourage products. The design must be timeless and the quality high, the products must be functional and make you feel strong, beautiful and comfortable at the same time. Hands-on Knits is a business dedicated to offering knitting patterns for modern men to make them look and feel their best. Primary customers are male knitters around the world. The outset of Hands-on Knits is my passion for both menswear and men’s rights. Hence, the vision of this business is to support gender equality through embracing male knitters in a knitting community much influenced by women – and to shed light on the many-men-who-knit and support their quest for a safe space as male knitters. I donate 10 % of the surplus from each pattern to a project or organisation dedicated to men’s rights.
