Our project is about to tell the feeling of looking at the world by providing a powerful reflection on the beauty of cartography. Drawing cities on leather is a reduction process of the map from the image to an almost abstract structure, an artistic way of interpretating a certain place, made up of essential lines and balances. The leather skin is the support upon which cities are engraved with laser technologies. Coming from all over the world, the skins we use do not belong to the mainstream leather industry - that would be far from us, in terms of thinking and feeling. Upon such leather skins, we carry out a sort of "palingenesis", a regeneration, consistently with the story they represent. Maps are created through a process of reduction from a real satellite image to a structure made of lines and spaces, where the city emerges in its purest form. Abstraction is for us a creative philosophy, which embraces design and technology. The result is a geometric work where everyday life and art meet each other.

Karolina Bednorz Ceramics
Working with ceramics is for me a creative possibility to mix various disciplines: from knowledge of physical and chemical processes, sculpture and art, product and graphic design, to observation of modern life. I add to that the ceramic craft, which first I studied at MA course of “Art and Design in Ceramics”, then studios and porcelain factories across Europe. This way I can bring together the best properties of clay with my conscious sensitivity. One of my favourite techniques is majolica, hand painting with ceramics pigments on unfired glaze, which I learned during my stay in Faenza, Italy in 2012. Since then I have been rebelliously adapting this traditional renaissance technique to my artistic language in modern porcelain. Porcelain is a capricious and time consuming material, but it has exquisite qualities. Enjoying this luxurious material means going against commodity and seeking for more sophistication in life. My tableware is an invitation to a different approach towards eating. It diverges from stereotypical thinking. Its shapes prevent mechanical gestures, encouraging a moment of reflection and breath. I focus on calm and mindful creations with respect for the environment. With perseverance, I seek harmony and tranquillity with this ceramic material in this speeding, confusing world. Each of my ceramic designs is carefully hand-crafted in my studio with the utmost care. I design shapes, make moulds and cast porcelain pieces from them. I hand paint patterns on the surface and I sign each piece with my personal signature. I want to give you the quality work which will add extra value to your day! Mmairo Marble & Design
Established in Carrara in 2016, MMairo designs and produces marble objects in Tuscany. The products are made with superior quality marbles, hand finished by local artisans and with a high market positioning. The Company takes its name from the etymological origin of marble (the Greek verb marmairo, “to shine”): a clear homage to the artistic material par excellence, the platonic idea of beauty, matter that is constantly evolving and therefore ever modern, invincibly contemporary, ecumenical, never identical to itself and thus reason malleable in the hands of designers, artists and architects, fascinating and desirable in the eyes of the public. For its collections, MMairo has selected international and heterogeneous authors whose private imaginings transform objects that range from the mundane, used for cooking and dining, into vases, centrepieces, lamps and tables. Fine materials, such as marble that nature supplies, never forfeit their uniqueness for a shared label. For this reason, MMairo resolved to create its own identity: solid, tangible, recognisable through original and contemporary objects that complement an eclectic element born in history, and that will always be, marble. It all begun in Carrara, international capital of marble, in the steady embrace of the Apuan Alps, where MMairo has made its home to oversee the quarrying and processing of this pure gift of nature. The Apuan Alps’ heritage is beauty, and MMairo has been able to harness the area’s deep roots to build relationships with local manufacturers, sharing dust and sunsets; because expertise on the subject is the first step towards artistic creation.
