Azerbaijan Technical University

November 14, 1920, the Soviet government decided that the previous technical school "Baku Polytechnic" would be closed and replaced by the Baku Polytechnic Institute. The new school focused on training engineers in such sectors as agriculture, civil engineering, electromechanics, economics, and oil. In 1923, the school changed its name to the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute. In March 1929 the Communist Party of Azerbaijan decided that the school would be divided into three independent schools covering agriculture, economy, and oil. However, the growing demands of engineers in other areas outside of oil led to the expansion of the school curriculum, and the school again changed its name in 1934, this time to the Azerbaijan Industrial Institute (AZPI), since it was combined with civil engineering. The Second World War taxed the Soviet Union, and schools like AzPI tried to remain open. In 1950, the government established a separate Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute (AzPI) and transferred non-petrochemical curricula to a new school so that Az. I.I. can focus on the oil industry.(AzPI continued to eventually become the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy.) In 1970, the branch of AzPI was established in Ganja. In 1993, AzPI changed its status and became the Azerbaijan Technical University.

French-Azerbaijani University - Ufaz

The French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) under the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University is a unique ongoing project initiated by the Presidents of Azerbaijan and France back in 2014. Functioning as of September 2016, the university conducts student admission based on 4 technical specializations. From the French side, the project includes a consortium of French Universities directed by the University of Strasbourg (Unistra). As for the Azerbaijani side, the project is led by Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) on the basis of a close cooperation with the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan. Founded under ASOIU, the university provides its graduates with the diplomas of ASOIU and the University of Strasbourg. Thus, without going overseas, the students will be able to obtain the diploma of ASOIU and Unistra, one of the most ancient universities in France. UFAZ firstly seeks for Azerbaijani students with a strong scientific background, with basic English knowledge, who have just graduated from high school and have successfully completed the exam of the State Examination Center, as well as the UFAZ recruitment exam organized by Strasbourg University in Baku.

Azerbaijan University Of Architecture And Construction

Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction is situated in Baku. Languages of instution are Azerbaijani, Russian and English. Founded in 1975, the University has total area of m2 with 5 educational buildings and the Campus comprising a nine- storeyed dormitory for foreign students and “Damla” hostel functioning for commercial basis. It also includes Construction College and a technical biased Lyceum. Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction began its activity as a "Construction" faculty at the Baku State University in 1920, as an independent Construction Institute in 1930-34 and as a "Construction" faculty in the Azerbaijan Industry Institute in 1934. In 1951 in connection with the establishment of the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute, the "Construction" faculty was moved to this institution. In 1975 Azerbaijan Civil Engineering Institute was established by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers Republic of Azerbaijan. Since 1992 the Institute has become the University. On June 13, by the decree of President Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, this institute was renamed as Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction.
