Adamjee Cantonment College

Adamjee Cantonment College (আদমজী ক্যান্টনমেন্ট কলেজ) is an intermediate college in Dhaka Cantonment, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The institution was established in 1960 following the ideology of the original renowned public schools of England — Eton and Harrow. It is managed by Bangladesh Army officers and primarily for the children of Army personnel. Pupils from the civilian section also can study in this college. On 16 February 1960, Adamjee Cantonment College started its journey as an English medium school that was founded by Gul Muhammad Adamjee (son of Sir Adamjee Haji Dawood, founder of Adamjee Group). The institution was later renamed Adamjee Cantonment College. A public school attached to the college served students in first to tenth grade. The school was separated in 1995 and was made a totally independent institution. The college is located in the center of Dhaka Cantonment, Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Dhaka National Medical College

The Dhaka National Medical College inherits her glorious predecessor the Dhaka National Medical Institute, which was established in 1925 as a part of Non-cooperation movement of the Indian Sub-continent against the British colonial rule, organized jointly by the Indian National Congress and the Indian Muslim Leage under the Leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, Mawlana Muhammad Ali and Mawlana Sawkat Ali. Along with other programs the Non-cooperation movement urged upon the peoples of the sub-continent to boycott educational institutions established and administered by British Govt. and to establish National Schools, Colleges and Institutes for modern scientific education by the local people themselves. Accordingly two Medical School were established in the Bengal Province for producing National Doctors of modern medicine. One such Medical School was at Calcutta, named Calcutta National Medical Institute and the other at Dhaka, named Dhaka National Medical Institute. In 1971, during the Liberation war of Bangladesh the Dhaka National Medical Institute Hospital was a safe shelter for the Freedom Fighters. Just after the liberation of Bangladesh in 1972 the hospital condition was on the verge of collapse due to financial crisis and absence of any Administrative Body as the previous Governing Body and the Trustee Board of the Institute were almost absent. Father of the Nation of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman took initiative by himself to rescue the Dhaka National Medical Institute Hospital and granted a Taka of Thirty five lacs immediately for running the hospital and an Adhoc Governing Body was formed for the Institute hospital under the chairmanship of Mr. M. Sirajul Islam MLA for the smooth administration and development of the hospital. Mr. M. Sirajul Islam took active initiative to allocate a donation fo taka twenty five lacs from Bangladesh Assistance Society of India.

Dhaka University Of Engineering & Technology

The University started its operation in 1980 as College of Engineering at its temporary campus at Tejgaon, under the University of Dhaka and offered four years Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering to meet the growing need for advanced engineering education in Bangladesh. After a short span of time, College of Engineering is renamed as Dhaka Engineering College in 1981. Dhaka Engineering College shifted to its present campus at Gazipur City in 1983. Dhaka Engineering College was promoted to Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT), Dhaka as a degree awarding Institute by the Government ordinance in 1986 to find solutions to various problems it had been facing since its inception. Jhenaidah Cadet College

Blessed and hallowed by the foot-steps of twelve legendary saints, tinged with the memory of Bir Shrestho Hamidur Rahman and poet Golam Mostafa, and purged by the holy water of the river Nabaganga, Jhenaidah (former name-Jhinukdah) is noted for Jhenaidah Cadet College. Situated in the midst of south-western flora of Bangladesh, Jhenidah Cadet College is one of the most renowned educational institutions in the conventional frame of imparting liberal all-round education to younger generation of the country. This great traditional institution was inaugurated by Abdul Monem Khan, erstwhile Governor of East Pakistan, on 18 October 1963. The college started functioning with the appointment of the Principal on 26 April 1964. Lt Col N D Hasan, AEC, was the first Principal of Jhenidah Cadet College. Directly guided by the Adjutant General of Bangladesh Army, being the Chairman of the governing bodies, the college is run under the Ministry of Defense. At present there are twelve Cadet Colleges in the country. Of them three are exclusively for the girls and nine others for the boys. Jhenidah Cadet College is the second of its kind as per seniority of establishment and it is for the boys.
