First Polymer Training Skillnet (FPTS) operates as a training network for the plastics industry in Ireland and is funded under the government’s Skillnet Ireland initiative. Initiated by Plastics Ireland (Ibec) in FPTS's primary objective is to provide technical accredited training to polymer professionals, at its state-of-the-art Centre in Athlone, in-company or online as required. Working with leading industry experts and training specialists, FPTS's areas of expertise include- Injection moulding - Extrusion - Thermoforming - Plastic materials selection - Troubleshooting - Automation (electrical, PLCs & HMI using Siemens and Allen Bradley)- Validation - Sustainability Most recently FPTS has also supported companies in the areas of cobotics, GD & T, digitalisation and excel, solidworks essentials, train the trainer/mentorship and mental health first aid. In addition to our short form programmes, FPTS can support individuals, through financial subsidies, to pursue third level qualifications in polymer processing (part-time) with ATU, Sligo. The training centre contains the latest in equipment and facilities including 2 training rooms and a technical training hall comprised of 4 injection moulding machines, extrusion, thermoforming equipment and customised electrical maintenance training boards. Leading the way in innovation, FPTS has introduced a bespoke VR module to all injection moulding courses. FPTS can support the L&D needs of individual companies by providing subsidies of up to 40% towards the cost of programmes, tailoring bespoke programmes to meet individual company needs for delivery in-company, online or at the FPTS Centre and developing career progression pathways for employees to aid growth and succession planning.

Heartbeat Safety Ltd
Heartbeat first opened its doors in 1993, initially only offering a small range of courses focusing on First Aid. We have now become a full service, customer driven company offering safety training and consultancy to many of Ireland’s premier companies. All of our training courses are designed to work best with small groups for maximum participation. Practical methods are used to involve the students through discussion, case study and practical scenarios. Heartbeat Safety have been Quality Assured by Fetac, the Further Education and Training Awards Council since October 2006. All of our training now follows this recognised quality assurance standard. Heartbeat Safety are a Recognised Institution with the Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council (Phecc) for the provision of their training standards and have a great working relationship with the staff of Phecc. Heartbeat Safety were also the first company to register with as an approved body to teach Occupational First Aid under the new Guidelines for First Aid at Work published in September 2008. Most of Heartbeat’s training courses have been placed on the National Register of Trainers operated by Fas and we are a registered Fas CSCS training centre. Heartbeat have 27 training staff on a full-time and contracted basis, 4 administration staff and 3 contracted consultants.

The Institute of Antiracism and Black Studies (IABS) provides theoretically robust, culturally grounded antiracist training and consultancy for individuals, corporate institutions, public bodies, and NGOs committed to building inclusive, equitable workplaces. Our work equips organisations with the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to understand difference, challenge bias, and lead meaningful change. Through evidence-based courses and transformative learning experiences, we develop leaders and teams who can act as informed agents of inclusion in their professional environments. IABS draws on over 17 years of research and engagement with workers of migrant descent, racialised communities, and people living on the margins of society. Our programmes are rooted in this extensive scholarship and lived experience, offering insights into inclusive workplaces, structural racism, and the principles of authentic acceptance. In 2018, our founder, Dr. Ebun Joseph, introduced the first Black Studies credit-bearing module in any Irish third-level institution—a landmark step in diversifying the curriculum and expanding understanding of the Black diaspora in Ireland. IABS continues this groundbreaking work by bringing Black Studies and anti-Black racism education directly to organisations seeking real, long-term change. In 2020, IABS delivered a successful nationwide series of antiracism webinars and Black Studies taster courses, extending our reach and strengthening our role as a leading voice in antiracist education in Ireland. Our objective is to grow the level of engagement that our community has with science, this includes students, teachers, parents and members of the general public. Our work is informed by the concept of Science Capital, which shows that the variety and quality of interactions a person has with science in their life informs their life long relationship with science in terms of further education and career choice.
