The mission of student connect is to provide a friendly and caring introduction to NUI Galway for first-year students through the facilitation of student-to-student help and encouragement. Student Connect is a simple programme aimed at speeding up the rate at which first-year students make friends. What is Student Connect? Student Connect is the University's mentoring programme for first-year students. It is a student-led programme whereby Mentor Leaders (experienced mentors) advised and train mentors who in turn mentor the University's new first-year students. Mentor Leaders and mentors are volunteers and are happy to spend time with new students to help them settle into the University. How Does Student Connect Work? You and a group of other first-year students will be introduced to your mentor at Orientation. The aim of the programme is two-fold, ie. students have an experienced student to contact if they encounter any difficulties and they also meet a new group of friends.

Alex's Adventure
Alex's Adventure was set up in 2016 after the death of Alex Ryan. Nicole Ryan, both CEO and Alex's sister set up Alex's Adventure to embark on a journey that her brother could no longer take, by sharing his story, educating young adults about New Psychoactive Substances and designing a programme that is fun, engaging and one that works. Alex’s Adventure aims to educate post primary students on substance misuse and the real-life effects our choices have. The program is broken into a 4-tier package system where schools and communities can “Build your own ED-venture” focusing on the school’s specific needs in relation to substance misuse. The program is designed in mind with the new Junior SPHE Curriculum and is based on 4 key learning outcomes including Who am I, Minding Myself & Others, Team Up & My Mental Health and is suited to post-primary students from 1st - 4th Year.

All Ireland Scholarships
The All Ireland Scholarships were established by the JP McManus Trust in 2008 to provide scholarships to students. The value of the scholarships are 6,750 Euro per annum in Ireland and 5,500 pounds per annum in Northern Ireland and will continue for the duration of the undergraduate programmes chosen by the scholarship winners. Participation in the scholarship scheme is confined to those who are exempt from the Leaving Certificate Fee or who are in receipt of the educational Maintenance Allowance from Northern Ireland authorities, and the scholarships are awarded on the basis of the results of the candidates first attempt at the final secondary education examinations in Ireland or Northern Ireland. The All Ireland Scholarships operate under the control of three Trustees Gerry Boland, Professor Roger Downer, and Pat Dowling, and are administered by the Department of Education and Skills, in Ireland and by the Department for Employment and Learning with support from the Department of Education in Northern Ireland.
