International School Of Iceland
The International School of Iceland (ISI) is a private elementary school housed in Sjálandsskóli in Garðabær. The school offers an international educational program to children in grades K-10. ISI is a privately owned company with a non-profit mission statement. ISI was last audited by the Ministry of Education in 2010. ISI is pursuing accreditation with The Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) in addition to The Council of International Schools (CIS). The final accreditation team visit took place in April 2017. Our feedback was notably positive. CIS results will be announced in May and MSA results in October 2017. The curriculum and syllabus for ISI has been developed to suit the needs of an international student body. We are proud to offer two distinct programs, or “streams,” at ISI. The English stream is for families whose parents have been temporarily assigned to work in Iceland by an embassy, business or university; typically these families live in Iceland for 3 years or fewer. The bilingual steam is intended for students who live in Iceland on a permanent basis or for an undetermined length of time. The program of study includes English, Icelandic (bilingual program only), mathematics, thematic units from the International Primary Curriculum, gym, swimming, art, textiles and woodwork. Emphasis is placed on meeting students at their academic and developmental level, and stimulating them to progress at an appropriate pace.

Icelandic Film School
Since its beginning the film school has operated in close cooperation with filmmakers’ interest groups, production companies and TV channels. In fact, the school and the TV channels have collaborated on a number of different projects. The school has also collaborated with numerous educational institutions on many courses over the years. The school has been fortunate that filmmakers and educators have offered their talents as teachers. More than two hundred instructors and lecturers, both Icelandic and foreign, have taught at the school. Most of them are active in one or another aspects of filmmaking. The school has graduated hundreds of students from various departments. These graduates are now employed in various places in the Icelandic film and television industry and have exerted considerable influence there. Employees of the school have been quite mobile, which is the nature of the industry. The faculty and staff are working filmmakers who share their time between the school and their projects.

A SME with a great passion for promoting education in computer programming in the school system in Iceland. We are building up a methodology and teaching material to teach programming at primary, secondary and high school level.
