Work Ready Africa
Founded in 2019 in Sierra Leone, Work Ready Africa (WRA) aims to address a key workforce gap that Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) across most of Sub-Saharan Africa face; access to talent that have sufficient work-ready skills to enable them rapidly scale and compete in the regional and global marketplace. WRA believes that a thriving private sector in Sierra Leone fuelled by the increased flow of growth capital from investors not only provides placement opportunities for our students but will also lead to a virtuous cycle of reduced brain drain, increased partnerships between the private sector and educational institutions (to strengthen the learning content/material delivered) and higher salaries for young graduates which in turn would further boost the growth of the private sector. Therefore we created The Investment Readiness Programs for SMEs which has been designed to facilitate increased investment flow to SMEs in Sierra Leone while also creating placement opportunities for our students. Our focus is as follows- It’s a space where education and entrepreneurship meets. We work with entrepreneurs to strengthen systems, access to mentors and develop human capital capacity - Work with Sierra Leonean SMEs to close the main gaps they face such as relevant training, access to finance and leveraging technology solutions

Extra Mile - Sierra Leone
We might be new to LinkedIn but we have been working hard since 2007! Extra Mile is a UK registered charity helping to break the cycle of poverty by providing free secondary education to girls and boys whose families cannot afford to pay in the Goderich area of Freetown, Sierra Leone, the poorest country in West Africa. Its ongoing objective is to run its own free-school, recruit volunteers to teach in local English-speaking schools, to help train local teachers and school leaders and to share best practice with partner schools. The Extra Mile school opened its doors for the first time in September 2016 with an intake of 50 pupils. These girls and boys are from families unable to financially support their children. From October 2020 we will have 140 children who will be educated free of charge. All pupils are taught by suitably qualified teachers from this area of greater Goderich with occasional invited volunteers from overseas. In order to encourage full attendance and maintain concentration levels through the working day, free meals are provided for all pupils and staff. Free uniforms and school learning materials are also supplied, and bring a sense of pride and unity to the girls and boys and their parents. The school follows the Sierra Leone national curriculum and pupils sit for the national exams at the appropriate ages. 17 of our students who had previously dropped out of education have passed their National Primary School Exam (NPSE) in 2020 and can now carry on into secondary education. In addition to the above, an annual programme of teacher training is delivered to the Extra Mile School staff and also to local teachers from other schools in the area, by several of our trustees. Over the last ten years the charity has brought in more than 50 volunteer teachers from across the world to work in local schools, mentoring their staff, head teachers and proprietors and providing much needed school resources.

Saint James College - Sierra Leone
The absence of a higher education institution in Robi's community Lungi, Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom and the inability of disadvantaged high school graduates to afford university tuition resulted in them turning to activities such as drug and alcohol consumption, prostitution, and gambling. Inspired to create future leaders, James Bangura founded St. James College to provide these people with post-secondary education, so they can become active members of society and help develop Sierra Leone's economy. The majority of the area's youths are now enrolled in the college's certificate, diploma, and advanced diploma courses, so they can find a sense of purpose in life.

Craving 4 Development
Craving 4 Development (C4D) is a pan-African ecosystem-building and systems design organization working at the intersection of enterprise development, trade, climate resilience, gender equity, and institutional transformation. We design and activate African-led systems that connect people, skills, markets, capital, and policy — enabling enterprises and communities to move from survival to scale, from fragmentation to coherence, and from local activity to regional and continental impact. C4D operates beyond stand-alone programs. Our work focuses on ecosystem architecture: strengthening how markets function, how institutions coordinate, how entrepreneurs access opportunity, and how capital and trade pathways are structured in practice. Our portfolio spans: Community systems models integrating livelihoods, climate resilience, and gender equity Enterprise and trade pipelines aligned with regional integration frameworks, including AfCFTA Investment readiness and capital architecture through Craving Ventures and Craving Capital Research, intelligence, and narrative platforms that inform policy, investment, and ecosystem decisions Ecosystem convening and policy–market alignment, bringing public, private, and development actors into coordinated action Founded in Africa, in 2018 and led by African practitioners, C4D centers African ownership, institutional integrity, and durable impact. We work with governments, development partners, private sector actors, and communities to build systems that function, not just projects that deliver. Our ambition is continental: to support African enterprises to trade, attract investment, and grow with dignity, through systems designed to last.
