Uganda Christian University
Uganda Christian University (UCU) is an authentic Christian Institution established by the Church of Uganda in 1997 in response to a call for quality University education with a Christian perspective. Uganda Christian University replaced the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College which trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono. International partnerships were part of the Bishop Tucker Theological College’s missionary history. The Church Mission Society teamed up with Ugandan leaders and others to assure the College had the necessary intellectual and other capital. By the late 1990s, the Church of Uganda sought to have a broader impact on society through University Education - not only educating clergy but other professionals as well. In 2004, UCU became the first private university to be chartered or accredited by the government of Uganda. Uganda Christian University is dedicated, through teaching, scholarship, service, spiritual formation, student development and social involvement, to preparing students for thoughtful, productive lives of Christian faith and service in their respective professions and places. Located in Mukono, less than an hour’s drive from the capital city Kampala, Uganda Christian University is one of Uganda's leading Teaching and Research Universities.

Our core programs combine and incorporate immersion, experience, and inquisition, and take place in what can loosely be described as non-traditional settings. Our goal is to change the way students and youth think about the developing world – we accomplish this goal by designing and running experiential programs that encourage our students: 1) to question current norms, 2) to engage with local change makers, 3) and to learn from their surroundings. Insight was originally founded as Youth in Development. The transition from our original name reflects our ambitions to explore a wide range of issues, while engaging an even wider audience. Our team is composed of young professionals who’ve spent years working in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. Our small team collectively speaks 10 languages, and is as diverse as it is energetic.

Mat Abacus Business School
Uganda’s #1 provider of Executive and Professional education. MAT ABACUS Business School was formed as the result of a merger in July 2019, between the Management and Accountancy Training Company “MAT” (Established in 1998) and Abacus Business School “ABS” (Established in 2014). This created synergies for the two institutions to tap into each other’s strengths. MAT ABACUS is one of only five Approved Learning Partners “ALP’s” at the Platinum level in Africa, the highest level of accreditation by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK for training institutions. MAT ABACUS has a custom equipped training center with modern teaching and computer-based exam facilities, utilizing over square feet of classroom space. We also provide quality education and training for industry and business practitioners across all sectors and levels of management. Through the interactions with top leadership of the different companies in the various sectors, MABS™ identified a glaring gap in the current education system. To an extent the curriculum delivered by most institutions does not resonate with the existing and emerging industry needs. In a dynamic environment, there is also a need for even those who are already in employment to re-skill and up-skill to be able to remain relevant in this Volatile Uncertain Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) environment. Our Business Advisory and Consulting Directorate formed after the merger is an indication of the maturity of our business school. In providing support to clients, we use consultants that have had both industry level experience at Executive Management and Board Level and we also draw on our strengths as a provider of Academic, Professional and Professional and Executive training to provide cutting edge insights to solve contemporary business problems.
