Keren Grinspoon Israel (KGI) was founded by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF) in 2009. HGF established, directs and operates the PJ Library international program in more than 36 countries in six different languages. The programs in Israel – Sifriyat Pijama and Maktabat Al-Fanoos – are implemented by KGI in cooperation with the Israel Ministry of Education, and the Price Family Philanthropies is also a strategic funder of Maktabat Al-Fanoos. Through Sifriyat Pijama and Maktabat Al-Fanoos, KGI aims to instill in children a love of reading books and to encourage discussion of educational values and heritage both in the classroom and in the home, while simultaneously bolstering literacy. KGI provides quality books to hundreds of thousands of children from kindergarten through second grade, nurturing an affinity for reading, values, and heritage and creating a broad cultural common denominator among children and families in Israel. Sifriyat Pijama is active in pre-schools, kindergartens, and schools that operate within the framework of state, state-religious, and special education. Maktabat Al-Fanoos runs in all state pre-schools, kindergartens, and schools. When the "book of the month" arrives at the kindergarten or school, the educators read the book to the children, and after choosing one of the suggested creative and experiential activities, each child receives a copy to take home – a gift for the family library. For the past few years, Sifriyat Pijama and Maktabat Al-Fanoos have been operating in about kindergartens and schools nationally, reaching more than children. Kindergarten children receive eight books as a gift during the school year and first- and second-graders each receive four books.

Cracking the Glass Ceiling’ is a gender empowerment program for girls, focusing on STEM education, that advances educational excellence in the periphery. The program operates in schools across municipalities, with an emphasis on peripheral towns and cities. ‘Cracking the Glass Ceiling’ increases the number of school girls in advanced STEM studies, who persevere in their education and successfully graduate with a quality Bagrut (matriculation) diploma – the central pathway in Israel to academic education, professional careers and personal and professional self-fulfillment. The program comprises a 5 year process, beginning in the 8th grade and ending with graduation in the 12th grade. ‘Cracking the Glass’ participants are exposed to the academic world and to hi-tech companies, meet inspirational mentors that serve as role models, participate in personal and gender empowerment workshops and receive scholastic support to advance their educational achievements, with a focus on math. The program participants graduate high school with a quality Bagurut diploma; they report increased self-efficacy and high motivation to develop careers in STEM fields. The majority of the program alums serve in the army or in National Service in a variety of meaningful positions and pursue higher education. ‘Cracking the Glass Ceiling’ was established over 12 years ago and includes some participants a year.

Using an AI - Nobook can automatically create an assignment with an article, images, and a teacher guide, a conversation with a relevant character or creative activities related to the topic being covered.
