Dili Institute Of Technology
The DIT was founded as a private, non-profit institute in 2002 with the aim of providing higher education for young people, veterans of the struggle for independence and their children.[3] In 2006, the DIT had to close for a while due to the unrest in East Timor. Dean João Câncio Freitas finished his work at the DIT. When it reopened in November 2006, Estanislau de Sousa Saldanha took over the post until 2014.[4] During the period from 2006 to 2008, DIT had few students and therefore accumulated in debt. Since the education there was attractive, the number of students was increased and the debts were paid off in 2012.[4]
