Mechanics For Africa
Mechanics for Africa is a Christian Technical College that was founded in 2002 to give quality education to underprivileged young Zambians. We also operate a commercial workshop to repair vehicles and the profits from that are used to help run the college. As stated already, we were established as a college in 2002 by visionaries Charlie and Sharonne Watt, with the support of Milford Baptist Church in the UK. Charlie and Sharonne ran the college until leaving in 2014 when Charlie took a senior role in Zambia’s mining industry. Jason and Claire Stonier led the college from 2014 to 2018 and are now back in the UK. Gwanire Kalombe is the current CEO for Mechanics for Africa. Milford Baptist Church and Christ Church, Sutton continue to be major support links between the UK and Zambia.

Tujatane, Tongabezi Trust School
The Tongabezi Trust School - known as Tujatane - was born in 1996 from a desire to provide underprivileged rural Zambian children living within walking distance of the school with a sound and holistic education in a bid to improve the quality of their lives. We started in 1996 with 15 preschool students in a single classroom. Today, we have over 300 students in our primary school, 80 who we sponsor into high school and another 50 we support in university or college. Our school has preschool to grade 9 classrooms, as well as an art room, a music room and amphitheatre, sports grounds, a library, and a canteen. Our alumni include pilots, nurses, lawyers, engineers, and accountants! Our vision is to develop the child as a whole and help them gain a greater knowledge and understanding of educational and social issues so they can make informed choices and have the chance of bright, promising futures.

The Duke Of Edinburgh's International Award Zambia
The Award is a global framework for non-formal education and learning, which challenges young people to dream big, celebrate their achievements and make a difference in their world. Through developing transferable skills, increasing their fitness levels, cultivating a sense of adventure and volunteering in their community, the Award helps young people to find their purpose, passion and place in the world. It operates in more than 130 countries and territories, helping to inspire millions of young people. And although the Award’s framework remains the same wherever it is delivered, no two Awards are the same. Instead, each young person designs and creates their own bespoke programme, unique to them. There are currently more than a million young people doing their Award around the world, via hundreds of thousands of youth-focused partners and operators, including schools, youth organisations, examination boards and youth offender institutions. Founded more than 60 years ago, the Award is available to all 14-24-year olds and equips young people with the skills they need for life regardless of their background, culture, physical ability or interests. On an individual level this can make a transformational difference to a young person’s life; on a collective basis, it has the power to bring significant change to wider society. In fact, in 2020 alone, more than £400 million in social value was generated globally by those young people who completed their Award.

Koloso
We're bringing an international-quality, full curriculum coverage, teaching support system to African schools. Beyond Ourselves
Education Development We develop education resources with local specialists and are working with the Zambian Ministry of Education to train teachers in the Jolly Phonics literacy programme. Research shows the higher the literacy rate, the higher the socio-economic and human development of a nation. Hence, literacy not only empowers individuals, families and communities, but it also reduces poverty, improves quality of life, helps to attain gender equality and ensures peace, democracy and sustainable development. Dignity Training Beyond Ourselves also promotes the dignity and well-being of the girl-child by partnering with schools to teach girls about their identity, worth and significance in God by facilitating Dream Days and the Cherished Dignity mentoring programme as well as sexual health training. We are also promoting the Dare Programme which is a similar programme for teen boys addressing topics around relationships, and helping them to understand their worth, value and calling as men of integrity.
