African Centre for Humanitarian Advocacy is 26-years old advocacy Development and humanitarian non-profit agency established in 1997 by a war veteran to advocates for the war victims across Africa war torn Regions. The major theme of its establishment was Human Right Advocacy, Peace-Building and providing Psychotherapy to war affected victims but it later expanded is humanitarian scopes to General Protection, WASH, Health, Nutrition, Livelihood, Education in Emergency. ACHA is currently operating in 9 Countries in Africa and expanding to Asia and Middle East by 2024. Today, our team totals more than 100-200 staff and local volunteers working with in 9 Countries in Africa.

OUR APPROACH FOR SUPPORTING HOMELESS YOUTH The two paths included in our approach include, Family Reconciliation, Transitional Housing and Supportive Services, both include extensive outreach. After outreach, the paths differ significantly. Family Reconciliation; This involves a mediator and a therapist who holds meetings with parents/family of the youth to reason and come into agreement into acceptance of the youth's situation. It is only when this fails that the youth is enrolled through our programs. Transitional Housing; Every night, we house a maximum of 12 homeless LGBTQ youths nationally for a maximum stay of 3months. Youths have access to three meals a day; a dedicated case manager; daily support services; specialized services, such as medical assistance, mental health counseling and substance use disorder treatment; and housing programs. Our Support Services comprises of; Client Assistance Fund, which provides monetary support to youth for essential expenses such as clothing for job interviews, fees for obtaining identification documents, household items, and rental assistance. Transportation Assistance, which provides taxi passes to guests when they need to attend job interviews, medical appointments, legal aid meetings, or employment training. Support Groups, which help youth build the skills necessary to gain stability and strengthen self-sufficiency including art group, financial literacy, empowerment and relapse prevention. Daily Support, which helps youths improve the quality of their daily lives through a personal address, showers, clothing, haircuts and hygiene products.
