RapidLion - The South African International Film Festival aims to be the premier marketing tool for films in the developing world. The inaugural festival will be held at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa from 12 - 19 March 2016. Films will contend for a RapidLion in various categories, including Best Overall RapidLion Film. The RapidLion award is an 8.4kg, platinum-plated statuette of a lioness in full flight atop the Hwe Mu Dua (Andinkra symbol of excellence). The award is made by R.S Owens & Company, the Chicago based company that has been making the Oscars and Emmys since 1983. World-renowned film producer, Anant Singh will be the first receipient of The Lionel Ngakane Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is named after Dr. Lionel Ngakane, the father of South African cinema. Singh's company, Video Vision has produced some of the most iconic South African films, including "Sarafina","Cry the Beloved Country", and more recently "Mandela: The Long Walk to Freedom". Video Vision also produced "Yesterday","the first South African film to receive an Academy Award nomination." The award is named after Dr. Lionel Ngakane, the father of South African cinema. Noughty founder Amanda Thomson had noticed that there was a glaring problem in the wine industry. This problem was that the wine labels don’t always tell the consumer what’s actually in the bottle they’re about to consume. She then set out to change this by creating a new alcohol-free wine that’s free of extra sugars, additives, and the crazy-high calorie counts that other brands usually have. Amanda was able to do so, thanks in part to her solely using high-end ingredients as well as her time spent studying at Le Cordon Bleu School of Culinary Arts. 2016 was when she introduced their “Skinny” line of Champagne and Prosecco drinks to the public where they garnered a hugely positive response. Just as people were clamoring to get their hands on this new beverage, they had to change their name, removing any mention of “Skinny” per UK trading standards. But it was already too late, Noughty had made a name for themselves and created a new market of non-alcoholic wine drinkers altogether!
