5 Minute Beach Cleanup Foundation
5 minute is a global grassroots movement that started in a small town on the Pacific Coast in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. Currently, it has more than 80K followers and an outreach of over 20 million views in videos that have been featured on Al Jaazera, The BBC News, The Economist, NowThis News and on the CGTN (China Global Television Network), and BRUT, among other media news channels. Now, their founders have started a non-profit foundation under the same to carry out different projects and campaigns with the main objective of educating children and individuals on the urgent call to protect our oceans from plastic pollution. We empower individuals to make an impact on the environment by picking up one piece of rubbish at a time while walking or running on the beach, at tåhe park, at the river or in the street. It is of our utmost importance to show how everyday heroes clean beaches and riverways around the globe and to convey the message that by doing so we not only create a positive impact on the environment and have a more conscious way of living.

Refugio Tinti Wildlife Sanctuary
Between 2017 and 2020, we transformed a wet pasture from a degraded swamp into a biodiverse birdwatcher’s paradise and permacultural farm. We are developing concepts for the diversification of monocultures into biodiverse and profitable polycultures and provide guidance for their implementation. We are an information and education center for sustainable agricultural systems and hold workshops about it. As active members of AMISTOSA (the governmental associacion for the biological corridor connecting La Amistad National Park and the Osa Peninsula) our tree nursery specialises in endangered species to be distributed within the area of the corridor for reforestation. We are working together with the Ministerio de Ambiente y Energía, AMISTOSA, the University of Costa Rica, Fundación des Parques Nacionales Costa Rica, Osa Conservation, Las Cruces Botanical Gardens, and local people.

Toucan Rescue Ranch
The mission of Toucan Rescue Ranch (TRR) is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release Costa Rican wildlife. TRR works with a model focusing on conservation, education, and research to ensure a brighter future for native animals. TRR receives and cares for confiscated, sick, and injured animals from government agencies. The Toucan Rescue Ranch works closely with the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica (MINAE), bringing injured and displaced wildlife to the center. TRR provides sanctuary while giving treatment, rehabilitation, and eventual release to their natural environment. The Toucan Rescue Ranch was established in 2004 by Leslie Howle and Jorge Murillo as a rescue center for toucans and other birds. Nonetheless, the rescue center quickly expanded to owls and other wildlife. In 2007, a baby sloth named Millie arrived and was solely in TRR’s care. Millie is initially what transformed the Toucan Rescue Ranch into a fully operating multi-species wildlife facility. The Toucan Rescue Ranch has a dedicated team that works alongside interns and volunteers to promise premier quality care for rescued animals. As a charitable organization, we are supported by donations. Donations provide financial support that directly promotes the health and well-being of animals.
