Eden to Addo is a corridor conservation organisation in South Africa. Our vision is to link three mega-reserves, namely the Garden Route National Park, The Baviaanskloof Mega Reserve and the Addo Elephant National Park by means of natural corridors to protect and restore the integrity of biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. We identify and formalize protected areas to create corridors for all species and assist and engage with landowners and all stakeholders to identify and develop a living corridor from Eden to Addo by applying sound land-use practices, encouraging a diversity of environmentally sustainable livelihoods and linking ecological important areas, for the benefit of biodiversity and the extended community.

The company has maintained a close collaboration with DHI and DHI GRAS relating to the use and applications of various products and has subcontracted and worked with numerous organisations such as GTI and Hydrologic. The company is in the process of putting together a number of solutions to support water management in South Africa these include: 1. A full flood risk management and mapping exercise for South Africa later to be extended to SADC. A real time flood forecasting framework for South Africa. A drought monitoring frameworks to assist with better identification and management of droughts 4. A reservoir monitoring and water resources capacity prediction methodology for the SADC region. A rain water and storm water harvesting prediction module for private consumers. All these aspects are set up using integrated hydrological, geo-hydrological and water resources management software. The primary variable input for these modeling applications is meteorological information and hence a partnership with the Weather Service is very important and attractive. In this Request for Information we provide some of the information related to the products and services we are currently investigating and have established.

Elephants Alive’s mission is to ensure the survival of elephants and their habitats and to promote harmonious co-existence between man and elephants. Our vision is to • provide science-based information to secure the survival of elephants within intact ecosystems. • create awareness of the plight of elephants at a time when populations are being decimated across Africa. • capture hearts and minds through research, education, advocacy and partnership-building, locally & internationally. For 20 years, Elephants Alive has been monitoring the ecology and demography of one of southern Africa’s largest continuous elephant populations. We have developed an individual elephant identification database of >1500 elephants in the Greater Kruger Area (including the Association of Private Nature Reserves (APNR) and Kruger National Park), as well as monitoring movements of nearly 70 radio-collared elephants throughout the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park (South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe). This research helps inform managers, conservation bodies and landowners on seasonal movement, sustainability of hunting, effects on vegetation where elephants and man co-exist – and worryingly now also identifying poaching hotspots, thus informing deployment of anti-poaching patrols.

Friends Of The Liesbeek Fol
The Friends of the Liesbeek (FoL) is a volunteer community of concerned citizens who are working towards improving the ecological functioning of the Liesbeek River and surrounds, improving the river's recreational utility and value and inspiring a community to take action. The river is a critical green and blue corridor in an urban setting. The Friends of the Liesbeek began in 1991. Its first activities were river walks and clean-ups, but today, the organisation focuses more broadly on restoration, public awareness and education of the river environments. There is a fully funded Liesbeek Maintenance Project which employs 8 staff from previously disadvantaged backgrounds and one project manager who is typically a recent university graduate from the environmental sector. The success of this volunteer group has been dependent on its mutually beneficial partnership with the City of Cape Town, business and other community organisations. The FoL has adopted an unflinching, ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ approach to volunteerism that has allowed it to operate effectively on the same level as the government departments with which it deals. FoL’s primary effort, the Liesbeek Maintenance Project – a large-scale river rehabilitation scheme – is reliant on the knowledge and support of the municipality. The success of FoL makes a strong case for the potential of volunteer organisations and demonstrates that, in partnership with government, much can be accomplished. The key is to stand apart from, but work with government.

Global White Lion Protection Trust
The Global White Lion Protection Trust (WLT) is a pioneering non-profit conservation organisation that has more than 20 years of conservation experience. Our primary objective is the conservation and protection of White Lions in the wild of their natural habitat as a capstone for the protection of the entire lion population in the Kruger to Canyon (K2C) Biosphere Region and related ecosystem. We work closely with local Tsonga and Sepedi Communities for whom the White Lion has significant cultural value, encouraging these communities to conserve natural heritage through our cultural and educational programs. Our CEO, Linda Tucker, is an internationally acclaimed conservationist and author of three published books on the subject of the White Lions, with a particular focus on the cultural aspects and the role of these iconic animals as symbols of leadership and good governance. Our specialist lion ecologist, Jason A. Turner, has 20 years of experience in lion conservation, and is responsible for the ground-breaking introduction, scientific research, and conservation of the White Lions. The NPO has established a protected area of approx. 4500 hectares in the Greater Kruger region, and introduced three prides of White Lions integrated with tawny lions to their endemic habitat. Fundamental to the long-term objective of the WLT is dropping fences with neighbouring, responsibly managed conservancies, in accordance with the existing protected area expansion strategy within the K2C Region. However, we have a strict non-trophy hunting policy and will require protective measures in place before so doing, in a region that still commercially hunts lions.
