South Asian Student Society Brussels

The foremost objective of the South Asian Student Society (SASS) is to provide a platform where art, culture, and diversity are celebrated and appreciated. We believe that by creating an inclusive and dynamic environment we will provide incoming and existing students to learn more about the rich heritage of South Asia. In doing so, we hope to bridge cultural and social gaps between people from different ethnic backgrounds. This will facilitate the transition from High School to university for incoming students and will assist existing students with fostering relationships with people from a myriad of backgrounds. In recent years, the influx of students from South Asia to KU Leuven has increased. We hope to cater to these students and represent the wider South Asian community with authenticity. We aim to inculcate cultural competency in our members; a skill that is of increasing relevance in a rapidly evolving world. To ensure maximum engagement, we will conduct weekly meetings with our members. During these gatherings, among other things, we will discuss the logistics for upcoming events and strengthen the recruitment process. Adhering to our core principles of diversity and inclusion, SASS is open for all students at Campus Brussels. To begin with, anyone interested in learning more about our objectives and events will be able to sign up via our social media pages. As the year progresses, we will be able to distinguish between committed members and passive members. This will enable us to develop a more comprehensive team. In a nutshell, therefore, the purpose of the student society is to encourage intercultural gatherings. Discourse in such dynamic settings allows one to reflect upon their own biases and be more conscious of stereotypes regarding different cultures. These reflections, we hope, will reduce prejudice and promote tolerance and acceptance of different cultural ideologies.

The IFMA Belgium Chapter has 4 core ambitions: 1. We connect our members by means of networking, mentoring and career supporting activities. We will inspire the FM community to share and boost knowledge.
