Apsley Farms
Apsley Farms is a family-run farm based in Hampshire utilising the latest technologies to produce low carbon products. In 2012 the family took the decision to build an Anaerobic digestion plant, turning arable crops into electricity. By 2014 they had realised that they could turn the biogas being made into biomethane, and with a suitable pipeline within their fields they would be able to supply southern England with green electricity (renewable natural gas) This equates to 8,500 houses of gas all year round. In 2016 the business decided that capturing the CO2 being released to the air would make good commercial sense. CO2 was captured from the arable crops as they grew in the first place. So far the business has produced over tons of food grade liquid CO2 into the market. This carbon dioxide by-product is sustainable, high-quality and certified food-grade, suitable for food and beverage industries. We operate our own fleet of tankers to deliver bulk orders for a range of businesses including breweries and bakeries. We also have CO2 testing facilities onsite. We are ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015 accredited. Apsley Farms uses modern farming equipment and techniques to maximise efficiency whilst out in the field. Apsley Farms are helping many farmers and land owners with their different needs. Different arable contracts are available, from growing a standing crop through to a Farm Business Tenancy. The plant allows more than forty local farmers to access an alternative market for their crops, and also giving them the opportunity to utilise digestate, the organic by-product, to improve their soils. Our carbon footprint of around 1/20 of ‘natural gas’. The biomethane production provides sustainable fuel to help meet the UK’s energy needs and climate targets. Our gardening products include mulch, top dressing and liquid plant food. These crop-derived soil improvers are by-products of our biogas production and are 100% sustainable.
