NiWARD) was created to give Nigerian scientists and agricultural researchers who have been chosen as African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) Fellows, a much needed platform to transfer the knowledge and skills gained through the Fellowship Program to transform the rural agricultural sector in Nigeria. Through NiWARD, the Fellows, their mentors and mentees will work to empower and build the capacity of rural farmers including women and their communities to fight hunger, malnutrition, and poverty. Additionally, their efforts in collaboration with rural farming communities will transform the Nigerian agricultural sector and push the National Agricultural Transformation Agenda forward, in line with the Government’s policy to grow this sector.

Tractor Owners and Hiring Facilities Association of Nigeria (TOHFAN) as the name implies is an association of tractor owners, Operators, Mechanics and tractor hiring agents in the business of providing tractor hiring services to farmers on a commercial basis. TOHFAN was established in 2003 with 9 tractors and 36 members and currently the association operates in 31 States across the country with 552 tractors and 1423 members. TOHFAN is managed by a team of executive members from the head office in Zaria, Kaduna State comprising of Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer and Public Relations Officer. At the State level, the association is managed by an executive committee that has similar positions as the head office. TOHFAN is registered with Corporate Affairs Commission in Abuja (CAC/IT No 49938).

This has become imperative due to the fact that upon involvement of our sister company, Agroalala plc in the business of cultivation of Agricultural produce we find that the farmer makes very little from the eventual price of the produce. The middlemen mark up the produce so much that the consumer at the other end pays so much while the farmer at the other end gets very little from what the consumer finally pays. Alalathefarmer.com was set up to address this anomaly. The final consumer should pay a fair and only a fair price for the commodity and the farmers should get a fair and only fair compensation for his effort. This clearly would mean procuring the commodities directly from the farmer and supplying directly to the consumer. This will involve the reduction to the barest minimum the various levels of middlemen. Alalathefarmer.com will take goods directly from the farmers at the farmer gate at a fair price and send the goods to our partners within our Alalathefarmer.com structure who will in turn sell to the final consumer.
