Lynn Rader and his six younger siblings were raised on this farm when it was a Guernsey dairy. Their parents, Glenn and Margaret Rader, moved onto the farm when they married in 1945. The family grew up milking cows and showing them in 4-H. In 1971 the cows were sold after Glenn’s death. Since then, Lynn and Linda have been grain farmers, their two sons now joining them. Lynn and Linda have three married children and eight grandchildren. For over 30 years Lynn has grown and sold sweet corn in the summer and later added pumpkins and other produce in the fall. In 2017 Lynn retired from the sweet corn business but continues to plant 30 plus acres of pumpkins, gourds, and specialty fall produce. As farmers, the Raders realize how much people enjoy and appreciate an opportunity to experience the farm and country life. The agritainment business, Rader Family Farms, began in 2009 and it allows guests a unique opportunity to connect with and learn about agriculture. The Rader family welcomes you to their farm!

Mr. Andrew Bartha and his wife Ilma started the company in 1988 after 12 years of managing other firms in the industry. The company started on a square foot plot of shade houses in Homestead, Florida. With passion, persistence, and a strong entrepreneurial drive the Barthas surmounted the challenges of expanding their business. In a few short years the company had grown considerably. Unfortunately, in August of 1992, hurricane Andrew devastated the Miami-Dade area and completely destroyed the Silver Vase facilities. Mr. Bartha and his team saw an opportunity rather than a setback and with great deal of effort they were able not only to rebuild their greenhouses in a short time but also turn their company into one of the most innovative potted plant growers in North America. The state-of-the-art facility experienced a tremendous growth, increasing yearly production from units in 1997 nearly 2 million units in 2004. Today the fully robotized and environmentally friendly greenhouse operation extends to nearly 1 million square feet across several locations in United States and Canada. The company started operating its own distribution trucks in 2004, serving both the retail and wholesale sides of the green industry.
