Chapel Arts Studios Cas
CAS is a research-led, contemporary arts organisation which exists to support and develop artists, and deliver arts education in the North Hampshire region. Our intention is to grow a sustainable organisation in which our artists and socially engaged art projects can thrive. Our main activities include developing our CAS network, and promoting creative enquiry through our flagship Education and Dissent programs. Our Education Program is delivered through Artists Residencies, workshops, public art projects and our Art Bus, all of which can bring Arts Award courses and workshops to your organisation or community. Our most successful programs are our Arts and School partnerships. These are a tried and tested model of arts and education partnership which makes it easy for schools to work with external arts practitioners in support of their creative curriculum. Our Dissent programme explores arts unique capacity to challenge, question and offer alternative ways of seeing. Using the Dissent program we will involve national and international partners in a dialogue about dissent – using events, exhibitions, and a variety of media. Our CAS Network provides resources, advice, support and opportunities for professional artists post graduation and beyond. When you are a graduate you loose the infrastructure of support, resources, facilities, and advice. CAS bridges the gap between art school and life after education. CAS recognises the individuality of each artist and giving them the space to pursue their own interests and research. We are flexible and respond to the needs of each artist which allows for a greater diversity. By partnering with CAS, schools, organisations, and community groups gain access to a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Patrick Heide Contemporary Art
Patrick Heide Contemporary Art fosters an international range of emerging and mid-career artists as well as a selection of graduates and young artists listed in its so-called “Breeder” section of the website. Though reaching out into areas such as conceptual and digital art, the core program of the gallery dedicates much of its attention to drawing and works on paper, a medium the founder Patrick Heide has been passionate about since the beginning. The gallery program is partly evaluating modernist or post-war movements in that medium but is always taking it to new and challenging levels. The range goes from the systematic drawing series by Isabel Albrecht and the process based experimental drawings of Thomas Mueller to the alienating Photocopy Drawings of Alex Hamilton and the movement based light installations and objects by Hans Kotter. In an attempt to reveal the underlying patterns of human society, the gallery program hopes to reveal artistic patterns and present art that provides a sensually and intellectually challenging, socially relevant, technically accomplished and spiritually charged rather timeless alternative to an art world that is often aimlessly theoretical, introspective and addicted to money, marketing and fashion. Patrick Heide Contemporary Art hopes to give prominence to artistic statements concerned about the condition of the mind, nature and human nature, its urbanisation, history and transformation.

In 2019, the gallery launched a year-long initiative titled 100% Women that aimed to address gender inequality in the art world and encourage wider industry action through debate, dialogue and collaboration. It is now a leader in its representation of female artists, from avant-garde pioneers of the 1960s and ‘70s, such as Eleanor ANTIN, Renate BERTLMANN, Helen CHADWICK and Jo SPENCE, to a younger generation of female artists including Silvia GIAMBRONE and Marinella SENATORE.
