Every day, 1 in 8 Kiwi kids go without the basics that most of us take for granted. This has a profound effect on their health, education and self-esteem. We believe that every child deserves the same opportunities to reach their full potential. Variety provides tailored, flexible support to children living in material deprivation in New Zealand. We work alongside schools, community agencies, social workers and healthcare professionals to identify children who need support. Our generous supporters enable Variety to provide children living in material deprivation with basic essentials (such as warm bedding and school uniforms), one-off grants for additional needs (such as medical and mobility equipment) and access to extra-curricular activities (such as school camp or swimming lessons). Most parents want to provide the very best for their children and this is no different for parents of children with brain injury. We know that through our NDTP programme support our children will gain a huge boost in self-confidence and personal development, the outcome being an improvement in their health and well being and the ability to be able to reach for the stars. Our children inspire others living with a disability to get out and live life to the fullest. This builds a strong sense of community, a community that disabled children can be proud to be part of and where disabled people are seen to be making valuable contributions to society. Testimonials It is a hard, tough journey but one of the moments of light is when people help you give your child something you couldn’t. With the support of the Trust and its donors. We get to experience watching our little girl learnt to sit, to stand, to walk, to talk, to eat, to take the lid off a marker! Mia The work the trust does to support children and families with disabilities goes far beyond just money. Their love, support, advice and experience as parents who have also raised disabled children has got us through some very tough times. Community Nz
New Zealand owes a lot to its Community Groups. The schools, food banks, churches, charities, sports clubs, theatre troops and animal shelters, to name but a few. They connect us, give us hope and foster a sense of belonging. However, many rely on fundraising drives, sponsorships and the endless filling out of forms to fund their activities. It’s relentless work, often distracting community leaders from what they do best. We saw a better way to do things. A way to give Community Groups a sustainable platform to fundraise and flourish, Merchants a loyalty programme for local custom, and shoppers a way to support the Community Groups they care about—forever more. New Zealand Remembrance Army
The New Zealand Remembrance Army (NZRA) is a volunteer-based charitable trust dedicated to restoring and maintaining the graves and memorials of New Zealand's service men and women. Established in 2018, the organization has rapidly expanded, enlisting over 3,500 volunteers who have collectively restored approximately service headstones and family memorials across the country. The primary mission of the NZRA is to ensure that all service headstones and memorials are preserved to a high national standard, reflecting the respect and gratitude owed to those who served. Recognizing that many of the estimated service graves in New Zealand have fallen into neglect—often due to the absence of surviving family members or lack of maintenance mandates from local councils and Veterans Affairs—the NZRA steps in to address this gap. The organization operates through a network of volunteers who undertake restoration work within their local communities. This grassroots approach not only fosters community engagement but also ensures that the memories of service personnel are honored nationwide. The NZRA collaborates closely with various stakeholders, including the Returned Services Association (RSA) of New Zealand, veterans, and other community groups, to bolster its restoration efforts. Support from corporate sponsors has been instrumental in the NZRA's operations. Companies such as Bio-Shield, Resene Paints, and Topflite have provided essential products and resources, enabling volunteers to carry out restoration activities effectively and at minimal cost. In addition to physical restoration work, the NZRA actively engages in storytelling through social media platforms. By sharing the histories and sacrifices of service members, the organization educates the public and keeps the legacy of New Zealand's military personnel alive for future generations.
