Department Of Agricultural Extension
n the year between 1862 -65 our country had to face a severe famine. Government formed a famine commission. This commission first advocated forming an Agriculture Department. Consequently in 1870 the agriculture department was formed as a revenue department. In 1960 a separate Agriculture Department was established. At that time an agriculture farm covering acres of land was set up at Monipur area of Dhaka city ( present Jatyo Sangshad area). This agriculture farm was attached to the Agriculture Department. For conducting agriculture research a laboratory was established in the year 1909. In 1914 Government employed an Agriculture Extension Officer in each district. Their academic background was not agriculture. In 1943 agriculture graduates were appointed to the agriculture department. In 1950 the then East Pakistan government initiated the extension and development program among the farmers through the VAID project. Government established Plant Protection Wing (1956), Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (1961), Agriculture Information Center (1962), DAEM and DARI (1970). After the independence of Bangladesh government took initiatives to strengthen agriculture extension program and established cotton development board, tobacco development board, horticulture board. In 1975 agriculture directorate (Extension and Management) and Jute directorate were established. In 1982 Six agencies responsible for technology transfer DAE (E and M), DA( jp), plant protection directorate, horticulture board, tobacco development board and central extension resource and development institute (CERDI) were merged to form the present Agriculture Extension Department (DAE).

Metropolitan development administrative organization in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is one of the two municipal corporations in Dhaka created when the former Dhaka City Corporation (first declared in 1864) was divided into two by the Local Government (City Corporation) Amendment Bill 2011 on 29 November 2011, passed in the Parliament of Bangladesh, following the President's approval. Dhaka South has a long history, including that of European arrival and colonization. Bangladesh Public Service Commission (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ সরকারী কর্ম কমিশন) is a quasi judicial constitutional body established in 1972. The commission is responsible for the recruitment of civil service servants in the Bangladesh government. It was formed by Section 137 of Part IX, Chapter II of the Constitution of Bangladesh. History The commission started as a public service commission in 1926 during British India. It was later known as the East Pakistan Public service commission after the partition of India. After the Independence of Bangladesh it was established as the Bangladesh Public Service Commission in 1972.[3] For a while it used the Chummery House as its headquarters. It is responsible for holding Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Examinations and publishing its results.

Bangladesh Steel & Engineering Corporation (BSEC) were formed by the amalgamation of the then Bangladesh Steel Mills Corporation and Bangladesh Engineering & Shipbuilding Corporation under Bangladesh Industrial Enterprises (Nationalisation, 2nd Amendment) Ordinance, 1976. Bangladesh Steel & Engineering Corporation Initially started functioning with 62 (sixty two) enterprises. Afterward BSEC established one industry named Bangladesh Blade Factory Ltd.(BBFL) in 1984. Presently BSEC has only 8 (eight) industrial enterprises in operation amongst which 49% shares of 3 (three) enterprises viz, Atlas Bangladesh Ltd, National Tubes Ltd. & Eastern Cables Ltd. have been offloaded to the general public and employees of the respective companies. Enterprises under Bangladesh Steel & Engineering Corporation have been playing an important role in the economic development of the country as they produce Electric Cables, Transformers, Tube Light, and Super Enamelled Copper Wire etc. and thereby contribute substantially to electrification of the country. BSEC has also contributed to the road transport sector since it has been assembling Bus, Truck, Jeep, Motor Cycle, Mishuk etc. Enterprises of BSEC also produce MS/GI/API Pipe and Safety Razor Blade. In the financial year 2016-2017 BSEC enterprises produced goods worth Tk.594.17 crore and sold goods worth of Tk.724.53 crore while enables to earn net profit (Before Tax) of Tk.76.99. BSEC also paid TK.190.14 crore to the National Exchequer as VAT & Taxes. Vision: Filling internal demand and globalization of the engineering products. The Bangladesh Bar Council is a Statutory Autonomous Body of the Government constituted under the Bangladesh Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Order, 1972 (President’s Order No. 46 of 1972). It consists of 15 (fifteen) Members of whom the Attorney – General for Bangladesh is one and is the Chairman ex-officio. Others are elected by Advocates for a term of 3 (three) years from amongst themselves, of whom seven from General Seats and seven from seven Zonal or Group Seats. Country Coordinating Mechanisms: CCMs are partnerships consisting of representatives from both the public and civil society sectors who coordinate the submission of one national proposal on the basis of priority needs. In addition, CCMs are responsible for overseeing the progress of program implementation. The CCM [is] a central pillar of the Global Fund’s architecture to ensure country-driven, coordinated, and multi-sectoral processes for leveraging and effecting additional resources … to fight AIDS, TB and malaria. The Bangladesh Country Coordinating Mechanism (BCCM) consists of 33 members, with representation from both the public and private sectors, including government, multilateral or bilateral agencies, non-governmental organizations, academics, private sector, key affected populations (KAP) and people living with the diseases (PLWD). For each grant, the Country Coordinating Mechanism nominates one or more public or private organizations to serve as Principal Recipients. In addition, it is responsible for overseeing the implementation of all Global Fund grants.

The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) is the centralized official bureau in Bangladesh for collecting statistics on demographics, the economy, and other facts about the country and disseminating the information. Although independent statistical programs had existed in the country before, they were often incomplete or produced inaccurate results, which led the Government of Bangladesh establishing an official bureau in August 1974, by merging four of the previous larger statistical agencies, the Bureau of Statistics, the Bureau of Agriculture Statistics, the Agriculture Census Commission and the Population Census Commission. In July 1975, the Statistics and Informatics Division was created under the Planning Ministry (Bangladesh) and tasked to oversee the BBS. Between 2002 and 2012, the division remained abolished but was later reinstated. The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics is headquartered in Dhaka. As of 2019, it has 8 Divisional statistical offices, 64 District statistical offices and 489 Upazila/Thana offices.

The Department of Public Health Engineering is the national lead agency for provision of drinking water supply and waste management in the country excepting Dhaka, Narayanganj and Chittagong cities where WASAs operate. With the challenges generated by the discovery of arsenic in incremental areas since its first detection in 1993, DPHE with its development partners is trying to ameliorate the sufferings caused by the lack of safe water. Alternative options for safe water supply are being catered in worse affected areas. Similarly for excreta and other waste management DPHE is implementing different projects to achieve an improved environment. The report documents the financial outlay, the achievement, issues and lessons learnt and challenges ahead so that the concerned are benefited and able to contribute better for the improvement of the sector. Bangladesh Awami League led by her, and its Grand Alliance (a total of 14 parties) won two-thirds majority in the elections. Numerically, the party controls 230 seats out of 299.[5] The Legislature of Bangladesh is unicameral. Called the Jatiya Sangsad in Bengali, it is the parliament of Bangladesh. The Speaker presides over meetings of the Jatiya Sangsad and conducts its business in an orderly fashion. The current Jatiya Sangsad contains 350 seats, including 50 seats reserved exclusively for women and 300 seats for elected members, which are apportioned on elected party position in the parliament. The Eleventh National Parliamentary Election was held on 30 December 2018.[6] The current speaker is Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, who is presiding over the eleventh Parliament. Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) the successor of the East Pakistan Agricultural Development Corporation, established under the Agricultural Development Corporation Ordinance, 1961 (E.P. Ordinance of 1961). In 1975, BADC was renamed as the Bangladesh Agricultural Inputs Supply and Services Corporation (BAISSC) to distinguish the functions of the corporation from other development agencies of the Government in the agricultural sector. But again in 1976 BAISSC was renamed as BADC. Based in Dhaka city, BADC, an autonomous corporate body under the Ministry of Agriculture, serves to the whole of Bangladesh and has a nationwide network of outlying field offices down to the upazila level and at some places even below that level. The general direction and administration of the corporation and all of its affairs are vested in a Board of Directors headed by the Chairman. The operational set-up of the Corporation comprises five wings. These are: Seed & Horticulture, Minor Irrigation, Fertilizer Management, Finance and Administration. The mandatory or primary functions of BADC are: to make suitable arrangements throughout Bangladesh for the production, procurement, transport, storage and distribution of essential agricultural inputs such as seed and fertilizers and providing irrigation facilities through utilization of surface and underground water to the farmers. Professionals from different disciplines such as agriculture, engineering, economics, management, computer science etc. work together in BADC. The total number of sanctioned posts was 25,451. But during the early 90s due to withdrawal of fertilizer management activities from BADC and privatization of irrigation activities and also due to normal and voluntary retirement and other reasons the number of working people and capacity of the organization was reduced.
