Le Service de l'eau de Lausanne assure le captage, le traitement, le stockage et le pompage, la distribution, l'évacuation et l'épuration, la protection ou encore l'analyse de l'eau. Cette denrée vitale est protégée sur l'ensemble du cycle de l'eau. Ses missions consistent à - Approvisionner en eau potable Lausanne et 20 communes alimentées au détail, ainsi que 50 communes ou associations intercommunales alimentées en gros, ce qui représente au total un bassin de population d’environ habitants- Entretenir le réseau d’évacuation des eaux claires et usées sur le territoire lausannois et en gérer l'exploitation- Exploiter la STEP de Vidy qui épure l’eau de Lausanne et de 15 communes environnantes. Cette tâche se fait sur mandat d'Epura SA, propriétaire des installations et qui gère le projet de modernisation et de renouvellement de la chaîne de traitement- Contrôler la qualité de l’eau par un laboratoire accrédité qui effectue la majeure partie des analyses physico-chimiques, microbiologiques et de micropolluants sur l’eau potable et les eaux usées- Contrôler les installations privées d’alimentation en eau potable et d’évacuation (postes de mesure, séparateurs à graisse, séparateurs à hydrocarbures, dépotoirs, bassins de rétention, infiltration des eaux, etc.)- Coordonner les projets de renaturation, d’aménagement ou d’amélioration de la qualité des cours d’eau, identifier les pollutions et les prévenir, sensibiliser la population et les différents acteurs à la préservation de l’eau en tant que milieu naturel et ressource.

The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) is responsible for examining, granting and administering industrial property rights (patents, trade marks and designs). It works together with governmental agencies, trade associations and businesses to enforce Swiss indications of source within Switzerland and internationally. The IPI also supervises the collective rights management organisations for copyright and provides information on intellectual property rights to individuals and companies in a variety of ways. Thus the IPI is the federal government's central point of contact for all questions concerning patents, trade marks, geographical indications, design protection and copyright. Its mandate is set out in the Status of the IPI. It is responsible for drafting legislation and advising the Federal Council and other federal authorities on matters concerning intellectual property. The IPI also represents the interests of Switzerland at international level. Its legal mandate is regulated in more detail on an ongoing basis by the political instances and in particular the head of the Federal Department of Justice and Police.
