Such information is useful for designing, evaluating and improving specific programs and policies. Even more important, it serves and continues to serve as a measure of the evolution of our society, economy, and environment. Organized information has always been important in understanding problems, in aiding intelligent decision making, and in providing a means of learning from our experience. With the governments new national policies aimed at distributing its services fairly through out the country, it becomes even more important to have good information to be able to target limited expenditures to areas of greatest need. FSM Division of Statistics is constantly expanding its efforts to make more and more of this information available freely through its dissemination means - it's publications, web site, and this network.

Fsm Office Of The National Public Auditor
Article XII, Section 3 of the F.S.M Constitution and Title 55, Chapter 5 of the FSM Code authorized the Public Auditor to direct a broad, comprehensive program of auditing within the National Government. The Public Auditor's office is authorized by statute to examine and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of systems of management control provided by the National Government to direct its activities toward the accomplishment of its objectives in accordance with National Government policies, plans and directives. In accomplishing these activities, the Public Auditor and members of the office of the Public Auditor are authorized to have full, free and unrestricted access to all National Government functions, records, property and personnel including States and nonprofit organizations receiving funds from the National Government.

Pohnpei Project Management Office
Periodically, the PMO issues a “Request For Qualifications” (RFQ) for Architectural-Engineering (A-E) firms to submit their qualifications to perform design for a specific project or projects. The submittals are typically 25 pages to be evaluated by a committee. Professional services are selected on the firm’s qualifications in response to the RFQ. The PMO is performing a significant task to insure projects are completed to the complete satisfaction of the end user; Pre-Design. First step is to have a detailed topographic survey performed on the sites to be developed. This allows the planning involved with locating the proposed structures to insure the scope of work for the design work is thorough and comprehensive. A pre-design report is prepared and made available to the end user for review and comment before finalizing.
