The Dead Sea Preservation Government Company Ltd. is a government company fully owned by the State of Israel which acts as the Ministry of Tourism’s executive arm in order to plan, implement, and lead short term and long term solutions for the problem of rising sea levels along the western shore of the industrial pond in the Dead Sea’s southern basin. In the summer of 2007, due to the fear of flooding hotels along the pond’s shore, the government announced the “Dead Sea Preservation” project as a project of national importance, thus granting the Dead Sea Preservation Government Company the mandate to promote and execute urgent works for protection. Alongside these works, long term alternatives were examined by foremost experts and consultants in a variety of fields (infrastructure, environment, landscape, and so on) and a methodical process commenced – a process of consolidating recommendations regarding the optimal solution to protect the shoreline, the hotels, and the shoreline infrastructures.

Eleven of our communities were evacuated, with nine remaining displaced for extended periods. In collaboration with our long-standing partners both in Israel and globally, we strive to achieve our goals for the benefit of the people of Israel and the Jewish community.
