The Early Childhood Commission
The Commission is currently governed by a Board of 20 Commissioners with an inter-ministerial and inter-sectoral make up. It is of sufficient stature, both in membership and mandate, to be of significant influence in regards to the policy and actions of all those concerned within the sector. The Board, which is headed by a Chairman, has as its primary role, the undertaking of policy development and oversight of the sector. The board is supported by sub-committees which through their technical coordinators have overall responsibility to manage and guide the implementation of all the Commission’s activities. There are seven subcommittees of the board as follows: Audit Finance Legal and Regulatory Affairs Parenting Public Education Research and Data Management Training & Development The direct day to day activities of the Commission are handled by the operational body which is headed by an Executive Director. The major responsibilities of the operational body include: Leadership for ECD development services Leadership for strategic work for children Regulation and Monitoring of early childhood institutions Leadership for development of training, certification and accreditation systems. Leadership for co-ordination of activity at the regional and community levels Leading partnerships in support of interventions to raise public and parental awareness and education on Early Childhood Issues. National Compliance And Regulatory Authority
The NCRA is an agency of the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce which is responsible for registering pre-packaged food establishments, registering importers and local manufacturers of goods for which compulsory standards exist, inspecting goods at the ports of entry and in the domestic market, as well as, undertaking responsibility for the verification of weighing and measuring devices used in trade and conducting petrol sampling. The Jamaica Cyber Incident Response Team (JaCIRT) is a Division under the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology established to deliver on the mandate outlined in the Government of Jamaica's (GOJ) National Cyber Security Strategy of 2015 to address matters regarding cyber threats and appropriate responses thereto. The JaCIRT supports the secure operations of the GOJ's Information Technology resources through the coordination of Incident Response for the Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs) of the GOJ, and by providing other services and support to protect their IT assets from cyber attacks as well as mitigation and recovery of incidents at all MDAs. Mission To secure Jamaicans and Jamaica’s interests in cyberspace by ensuring increased cyber hygiene, cybersecurity awareness and resilience through the advancement of cyber incident response mechanisms, the development, promulgation and enforcement of standards, and the capability based increase in cybersecurity capacity in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life.
