Competition And Tariff Commission
Competition and Tariff Commission (Commission) is a statutory body established under the Competition Act [Chapter 14:28]. The present Commission is a product of the merger in 2001 of the former Industry and Trade Competition Commission (ITCC) and Tariff Commission (TC). The ITCC had been established under the Competition Act, 1996 (No.7 of 1996) as a competition regulatory authority, while the TC had been established under the Tariff Commission Act [ Chapter 14:29] as a trade tariffs advisory authority. Both the ITCC and TC had commenced operations in 1998. The merger of the ITCC and TC was provided for under the Competition Amendment Act, 2001 (No.29 of 2001), which also repealed the Tariff Commission Act [Chapter 14:29]. The Commission therefore has the twin mandates of implementing Zimbabwe’s competition policy and execution of the country’s trade tariffs policy, with the primary objective of enforcing the Competition Act [Chapter 14:28]. The statutory functions of the Commission in terms of section 5 of the Competition Act [Chapter 14:28] are-to encourage and promote competition in all sectors of the economy-to reduce barriers to entry into any sector of the economy or to any form of economic activity-to investigate, discourage and prevent restrictive practices-to study trends towards increased economic concentration, with a view to the investigation of monopoly situations and the prevention of such situations, where they are contrary to the public interest-to advise the Minister of Industry and Commerce in regard to all aspects of economic competition, including entrepreneurial activities carried on by institutions directly or indirectly controlled by the State, and the formulation, co-ordination, implementation and administration of Government policy in regard to economic competition-to perform any other functions that may be conferred or imposed on the Commission by the Act or any other enactment.

National Social Security Authority Of Zimbabwe Nssa
In Zimbabwe the National Social Security Authority (NSSA), is constituted and established in terms of the NSSA Act of 1989, Chapter 17: 04. NSSA is the statutory corporate body tasked by the Government to provide social security in Zimbabwe. The provision of social security can be defined as instituting public policy measures intended to protect an individual in life situations or conditions in which his/her livelihood and well-being may be threatened, such as those engendered by sickness, workplace injuries, unemployment, invalidity, old age, retirement and death. It is based on the principle of social solidarity and pooling of resources and risks, involving drawing of savings from periods of employment, earnings and good health to provide for periods of unemployment, old age, invalidity and death. At the moment NSSA is administering two schemes: Pension and Other Benefits Scheme and Accident Prevention and Workers’ Compensation Scheme, although, in an endeavour to provide a more comprehensive social security package for the Zimbabwean society, the groundwork for the introduction of more schemes is underway.

Radiation Protection Authority Of Zimbabwe
The Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe (RPAZ) was established through an Act of Parliament, Radiation Protection Act [Chapter 15:15] of 2004. Section 4 of the Radiation Protection Act [Chapter 15:15] of 2004 defines the Functions and Powers of the Authority as follows:(1) The functions of the Authority shall be – (a) To issue standards and norms governing exemption, notification, registration and licensing of radiation sources and radiation protection and safety; and (b) to define in regulation standards and norms the exposures that are excluded from regulatory requirements on the basis that they are not capable of being subjected to regulatory control; and (c) to issue authorisations for the possession and use of radiation sources; and (d) to define in regulations and authorisations the detailed obligations to be placed on those who possess radiation sources; and (e) to conduct inspections and obtain performance information concerning radiation sources; and (f) to take such action as is necessary to enforce any prescribed requirements; and (g) to protect the health and safety of workers and the members of the general public; and (h) to accredit persons as suppliers of certain services or facilities necessary to enable licensees, registrants or notifying parties to comply with conditions or requirements imposed by or under this Act; and (i) to approve persons with specified radiation protection responsibilities; and (j) to ensure that adequate national arrangements for response to radiological accidents are established; and (k) to initiate, recommend or provide support for intervention, as appropriate; and (l) to advise on matters relating to the safety of radiation sources and the disposal of radioactive waste materials or irradiating devices; and (m) to establish and maintain registers of importers, exporters, manufacturers, users and operators of devices or materials capable of producing ionizing radiation.(2) For the better exercise of
